Ishant was outstanding. I agree with Ian Chappell who said Ishant is by far India's best pacer. Yadav who is over rated on here bowled real garbage, and shouldn't be anywhere near this team.

It's definately a skill but it can be improved to a certain extent where it is good enough. That applies especially for Yadav. Very little FC and International game time, started with red ball at 17... Unfortunately many 120 kph Ranji trundlers have it :cantstop: One day a quick will come through who is naturally consistent :two_thumbs_up: Quicks have started coming Eventually accurate quicks will too Any prospects this Ranji? :woot:

Jasprit Bumrah is an accurate pacer who can consistently bowl above 135 k even in the 4/5 day first class matches. Sometimes he can bowl entire overs at 140 k+ with decent accuracy. His FC stats are good too. Has a good bouncer and yorker. Decent height. Most importantly, he normally does not spray the ball.

The problem is that Dhoni is INDEED spoon feeding them. If he was not this problem would not arise. He is the one who asked them to bowl short all innings. He is the one keeping leg slip and asking bowlers to bowl on the legs. And don't tell me bowlers can still use their brains, because they will be dropped next match itself if they don't follow THE process That is what I meant, if someone has to give guidance, give right guidance. If not, let the bowler decide. Ishant has become brainless as he has been spoon fed too much by Dhoni. Dhoni is on a crusade to make every bowler defensive

Glad people are finally seeing the light...have been harping about this for ages that this guy needs to get some respect around here. I will say it here...Ishant is not a spearhead and I mean it in a respectful way,but he is probably the greatest support bowler a team can wish to have. Analogy Naseeruddin Shah cannot carry a big budget blockbuster film as the leading man atleast 9/10 times but put him in a blockbuster film as a supporting act and it will enhance the film to another level Same with Ishant....Forget Steyn,even If India has a Anderson(again mean it with utmost respect) type bowler,Ishant would be averaging a lot lower.

Stuart Broad,Morne Morkel and even Peter Siddle are other examples of bowlers who cannot be spearheads and are they better than Ishant is a debate for another day but the way they thrive in their supporting roles is a good example

The best way for a player to learn, when he is failing, is to check out videos of their own good performances. Today's spell is one such instance. All our fast bowlers, including Ishant, should study today's spells by Ishant and get guidance on how to bowl well. Will they do it ?

I agree but as I said,he is a very good 2nd or 3rd seamer at best.....Ishant can never be a Steyn or even an Anderson but he definetely can be as good/consistent as Peter Siddle.

true, need a solid test match pacer then these guys can come in for support depending on form. one good pacer + bhuvi + one of the rest but the thing is we just dont have that bowler

Dhoni's field placing and often weird tactics are messing up our inexperienced pacers for sure. This strange "leg side bowling" strategy are making them lose control and rhythm. Umesh was bowling with both accuracy and pace in the Lankan ODI series ....now he is inaccurate in tests although the ball is not moving much. Does seem strange.

We badly need one. One advantage Ishant has is that he can hurry the batsmen even at 135 k because of his height and bounce. If he is accurate, even with small movements he will trouble batsmen.

I don't follow cricket as much as I once did. Supporting India becomes exhausting after a while. However, it is absolutely ridiculous to see the limited chance that Pankaj Singh received with the team. From what I saw, he looked pretty solid in England. He was not inspirational but it is not as if we have loads of bowlers pushing him for his spot. It still boggles my mind how individuals who ply their trade for years on end get two games chance to prove themselves. Instead, we pick people who have never bowled for seasons on end who lack therefore lack the consistency not only from ball-to-ball but from game-to-game and series-to-series. I hope Dhawal is treated better but I doubt it. I think he can be a genuinely good cricketer for India. I remember he was picked on a tour of New Zealand along with Balaji a few years back and both were dropped without playing a Test - what sort of man-management is that? This sort of thing is what damages our cricketers and fast bowlers. And FFS, is it difficult to see that it is a different set of skills to be a successful spin bowler inside India to outside India?! Why don't we pick someone like Piyush Chawla - at least he has taken wickets outside India (in County Cricket). Ashwin outside India averages 57 with the ball over 8 Tests!
