Vijy Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Blessing in disguise? Look at Jaddu's record last year, and it's one of the most impressive amongst all all-rounders. I think he's underrated in ODIs and heavily overrated in Tests.

Stuart Panni is a sub-par hack who cant bat (bowling is ok-ish in seaming place like NZ but cannon fodder in Aus). Axer Patel vastly inexperienced. Sir J experience (odi) is worth pots of gold compared to Axers inexperience. So, Can someone tell me how the hell is this a "blessing in disguise"?? Sir J will be missed big time!! :(( And Sir J fielding and his run outs!!

fineleg Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Yes if jadeja injured, we may need experience of yuvi instead of raw inexperience of axer patel in worldcup. WC is big stage event, and yuvi big stage experience may help, we may have to forgive his t20 final nonsense and selfish batting

I'm aware of the all-round value Ravindra brings to the ODI side as spin-bowler, outfielder and lower-order hitter but the dude averages 109 with the ball with an ER of 5.3, and 16 with the bat at a SR of 70 in Australia! So I was wondering if his injury is a setback at all.

jf1gp_1 Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 I think its a set back, more than his batting its the 10 overs from him that usually go a long way. Long boundaries would have helped him more than anyone; add his ground fielding and ability to hit wicket its a huge loss if this does happen.

India allrounder*Ravindra Jadeja*is likely to find a place in the World Cup squad, although he has not yet recovered from a shoulder injury that ruled him out of the Tests against Australia. Sanjay Patel, the BCCI secretary had told reporters last month that Jadeja would need "three to four weeks" to recover from his shoulder injury and is unlikely to be fit for the start of the tri-series in Australia, which begins from January 16. Jadeja is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the new BCCI centre in Chennai and is being monitored by the board's physiotherapist, Nitin Patel. The national selectors will be provided with an update on Jadeja's fitness when they meet on January 6 to pick the squad for the tri-series against Australia and England, and the World Cup. The deadline for announcing the World Cup squad is January 7. If Jadeja's rehabilitation goes according to plan, he will be match-fit by around January 20 and could get a chance to prove his fitness during India's last two league games in the tri-series. If Jadeja fails to recover in time, the BCCI can get him replaced in the World Cup squad. According to the World Cup rules, a player can only be replaced on medical grounds. As a result, even if Jadeja does not recover in time for the World Cup after being picked in the squad, he can be replaced if the ICC medical committee is convinced, based on the fitness reports, that the injury will not heal in time for the tournament.

Lets be honest, his bowling has gone worse since that saf tour,though his late slogging and fielding will be missed.
Vijy Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 His batitng has improved though his bowling in 2014 is not as it was in 2013. On the whole, a genuine utility player - would pick him over Ashwin and Akshar. However, I've always wondered, given Mishra's ODI avg (far better than everyone else), why he hasn't been giving a longer go.
