hhunaeh Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 About 15 men coming to agreement and attacking a girl, Why are people surprised over this? Mobs in India form all the time. In any mob i am sure 90% of the people wouldn't even know why they were lynching someone in the first place. When people feel mobs are justified in certain cases, they shouldn't be surprised when the same dynamics gives rise to mobs in other undesirable instances too.
beetle Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 beetle' date=' What other means are there to seek justice? (even if you plan to hire goondas, and thereby committing a criminal act for which you may serve life in prison for many years, if you get caught).[/quote'] Hope I have to never cross that bridge.....but will find some way of getting justice.I find nothing wrong it that.....till things improve.
dial_100 Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 This will continue to get worst. Its a shame that we are turning into such a community but I am glad I don't have to live in the coming decades when things will be very bad.
gattaca Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 So are rapes in india more a representation of the matriarchal society and where woman are not respected even in their own households ?
Vilander Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 theres so many things wrong' date=' uninformed and ignorant about this post that its unbelievable.[/quote'] give more than one line, contribute with a full informative retort.
PriyankaSR Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 So even if rapes are under reported in India, we are still safer than some of the 'developed' nation I am sorry, but that isn't really something to be proud of. The aim should be elimination of such a scenario and not 'comparatively safer'. This isn't a competition.

No country or society in world is crime free it is part of human nature , some people will always commit crime irrespective of whatever prevention you have .Crimes can be reduced but can never be completely eliminated
veer Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 We need to find the reasons why this is happening on such a high rate in India. I've come up with following: 1. Old India and New India is clashing constantly 2. Guys from Bihar, UP, MP have seen "sexy" girls only on TV/Cinemas etc. but now since those guys are in cities, they are instantly seeing those girls around them 3. Indian folks only like to mind their own business. Meaning, majority of people are not concern of whatever wrong is happening around you 4. Then, there is another set of social problems with rural folks. Lack of education, panchayat rule, Lack of facilities (toilets), Gangs and Bahubali culture, Metrachial society etc
Darth Bane Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Rape is nothing but a power trip, it has nothing to do with dress etc, lack of infrastructure, the police etc all contribute to women being afraid to report these crimes. The law is weak when it comes to policing, and the police are not well trained or educate, and corruption in the police is high as well.

Yes. Human nature? No. Psychopaths have an abnormally functional amylgada and lack empathy so it is a part of their nature, yes, but not of human nature. I agree that elimination cannot be achieved but the aim should elimination and not relative safety.

Crime prominently happens due to human greed, impatience, anger, revenge, etc. These things make people commit crime. Sometimes, these are planned, sometimes unplanned and happen in a heat of the moment.

rkt.india Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 But rape and sexual harassment are a different kind of crime' date=' more a power trip, that's why rape is used in war etc.[/quote'] No. Sex is also a kind of greed, lust. Rape in war is a completely different thing.

veer Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 You think there were no rapes in 'Old India?' Most probably were not reported due to shame' date=' no 24/7 media.[/quote'] Of course they were.. but, i bet it was never at this high rate... and was never this brutal.
beetle Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Of course they were.. but' date=' i bet it was never at this high rate... and was never this brutal.[/quote'] Veer...we can't be sure because there is no record. One example is the 'Draupadi cheer haran'...and the ease with which it has been told from generation to generation.......with out too much outrage. I would find it hard to explain to my daughter how a hall full of men could quietly watch the outraging of the modesty and molestation of ones own family woman.....and how these men can be idolised as the heroes. One husband betting his wife...5 of them watching this happen to their wife. That speak of the value of women in olden times. All the talk about Women being treated like Devis etc is just eye wash.
