rkt.india Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 Yup. That is what I said... Umesh was good in ODIs earlier this year... But bowled shyte in the Test series, particularly this match... Would play both of them in the Tri series and then decide It isnt as simple just because he bowled well in ODIs but bowled badly in test. Why is this? People need to understand the reason. If they have watched all these matches, they should be able to notice it. It is the difference in bowling action. In his first 4 ODIs against SL, he bowled with a different action which for first time in two years giving him consistency but from last ODI onwards he went back to his old action and again the same result. and I am afraid with this action, he is not going to get any better. He needs learn quickly which action makes him better.

Umesh wont do jack until he goes back to his action he used in SL ODI series.

vishalvirsingh Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 Don't crucify Umesh and Varun Dhoni had tactics to get a catch in leg slip Umesh was trying lbw to get wickets n the pitch is dead. Evenue Harris n Australian pacers r not doing anything. The attack line is decided by captain and bowler executes so it's also strategy going wrong. Umesh and varun got many opportunities in slips created..even in gully but our catching was not upto the mark. Bhuvi is bowling at 106 on this pitch n see he is bowling at the 8th stump line defensive tactics...even raina can do that. Yes I agree umesh has under performed and even varun has. But understand this...These 2 are the best we have..We have to groom them..give them time. Ishan't also didn't get the no of wickets he shud have got. Shammi was good in this test but earlier he was average too. But understand he is one of the best we have like varun n umesh. U can't get a vinay Dinda or pankaj to play ahead of these guys.
