HippoSucks Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Are you serious? Stealing from a store is DEATH penalty now? A young man in the prime of his life? There is a reason even death penalty for terrorists need to be proved in the strictest of term in court, takes years of court hearings and the defendant is given all chances to save himself. Even after that multiple appeals can be filed And here you are justifying taking of a life for stealing and hitting someone? And you call the officer poor when he will live a happy life while the 20 year old is cut in the prime of his life? It is a seriously fecked up mentality to have when the price of a street brawl or resisting arrest is instant death. I pray to God you will never be put to such circumstances. Because I know I have. In teenage years I have been involved in street fights in Ranchi. Got into arguments with cops. Thank god I was not in the US or I would be killed for such crimes and people like you would justify it Teenagers all over the world involve in street fights. Young guys do stupid things. Even argue and fight with cops. Only in America is it punished by instant death with people supporting. And I see a lot of such justification by some Indians for some reason when for all they know, they will be the ones in similar position any day. Of course it isn't worth a death penalty. The police officer didn't kill Brown because he thought Brown deserved to be killed for shoplifting. He shot him because he was afraid of Brown harming him (or taking the gun and shooting him). Resisting arrest is fine, but hitting officers and trying to steal the gun definitely endangers the officer. Anyway that is irrelevant here considering the old man in this case did no such thing.
mishra Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 I don't think the society as a whole is racist. There are two sides to a coin' date=' many Americans harbor no such racist feelings. A vivid example of this is how much they donated for this man's medical expenses. But unfortunately, these are a fair amount of people (some of whom have sneaked in to law enforcement jobs) who repeatedly tarnish the good reputation of the country.[/quote'] The day everyone who donated for that "White" police officer get done by police on charges of racism, you tell me that law enforcement has few bad apples. Offcourse every American cant be racist. Half the population is non white. Remaining half will have few against racism But in a single story everyone involved have various shades of racism. It just cant be a coincidence? Can it ?
Brainfade Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 The day everyone who donated for that "White" police officer get done by police on charges of racism, you tell me that law enforcement has few bad apples. Offcourse every American cant be racist. Half the population is non white. Remaining half will have few against racism But in a single story everyone involved have various shades of racism. It just cant be a coincidence? Can it ? And I am sure many of them are racist against white people. Racism is not a prerogative of the whites.

That is where you find white supremacists, Ku Ku Klan. etc. There was a draconian law of checking for immigrants in Albama. They trimmed down only last year. With that law you can legally do racial profiling. Also the people from backwaters are not really that smart.
Raghav_12 Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Racism remains so seeped in the mindset of people that it would take years to get out of the system and there are different shades of it. Some people who remain very nice in general to other races including us Indians as long as we are very nice to them. But true colors would come out the moment they are challenged or competed by Indians. I have been in Sweden for last 4 months and I can say though people have been extremely nice to me but there is definite undercurrent of racism which sometimes come out in open very clearly. You can never judge presence of racism as long as things are nice. How people react to bad and uncomfortable situations that would an indication on presence of racism.
Cricketics Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 I have lived in U.S for over 10 years now and can safely say that Whites as a whole have seemed less racist to me than the Blacks in the country. I don't know if the latter has some superiority complex or what but that is what I have noticed. I think Indians generally get along well with both the communities but are more close towards the Whites because our standard of Living is very much similar to them. There are more common things between South Asian and White Americans communities which makes them get along well with each other usually.
Precambrian Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 Affirms why America remains one ofthe stupidest places to go settle The taxes, the crime, the gun culture, the fecking halfway round the world trip, the racism... jeez what a shoddy little place to earn ur money? And after sometime u just stop even bothering about Ind. Middle east is the best if u want to migrate, esp UAE. Offers all the comfort, yet the third person u greet on the road will be in an Indian. Also just 3-4 hrs flight and u are home! No taxes either. Almost zero crime, all the facilities in the world.

Europe, in general, has subtle (and even overt) shades of racism. In most ways, Europeans can be the worst of the lot since they live in entitled societies. They can not fathom that you don't care sh!t about the French revolution or the "Golden Age" etc.

Precambrian Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 What comfort to be never treated as a first class citizen like EVER! Also, spoken like a true Mallu. :--D One of the biggest myths EVER. Apart from getting citizenship, there is no discrimination in UAE whatsoever.

Crookbond Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 One of the biggest myths EVER. Apart from getting citizenship' date= there is no discrimination in UAE whatsoever. That's like saying - apart from cancer, smoking is completely fine. Anyways, there's enough discrimination in the UAE or Gelf particularly for people from lower income classes. Me and you here sitting in an internet ivory tower flaunting CA, PhD, MBBS degrees are not in a position to make that judgment.

Whats the point of earning a ton of money if you cant enjoy it only thing i agree with you is the annoyingly long goddamned flight to the US. Hate it to the care
AmreekanDesi Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 I would aslso say that the US is no where as racist as most European countries where racism is entrenched in their personalities

Crookbond Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 I am talking only from UAE viewpoint. Not whole GCC viewpoint. Pay well, make your fortune and go home - everyone knows that when they come here. Basically, you are generalizing and you know it. UAE is one of the most racist countries. Just that it doesn't happen to me and you, doesn't mean there is no existence.
coffee_rules Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 A vegetarian friend of mine spent 2 years in Riyadh and he started eating chicken, not out of peer pressure, but of boredom. He said that was the only entertainment he was able to get there.
hhunaeh Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 I keep hearing how ME treats blue collared indian workers like slaves. One ME country even has different hospitals for foreigners(read indians, pakistanis and bangladeshis). And now you have reports discussing qatar and its world cup disaster with thousands of indian workers expected to die before the world cup begins. I can't see how this part of the world can be better than europe or usa.
