Beat Pak in 2007.Beat England in 2011 and now WI.Ok WI are borderline minnows at this stage. But they look like an extremely competent side which can test matches at home against SC teams.

Cricketics Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 I think the whole world wants it but it is only the ICC which does not see it. I see Irish fans are very passionate. I saw more Irish support than most countries supporters in India in 2011 wc and also in 2007 wc. Bangladesh never used to get that kind of support away from home when they did not have test status. It's time they stop worrying about them supporters coming and just give the status to Ireland. I am sure they will have more support than some other countries at neutral venues.

maniac Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 They deserve it but here is the catch Test Status to Ireland will mean an extra full voting member that most likely will favor England...I know currently Big 3 rule cricket but still in future there is a good chance that Ireland will side with England against BCCI if it comes to that. Bangladesh no matter how poor they are on the field,they generate a lot of revenue for ICC which is probably more than countries like Nzl,WI and Zim for sure. What is the following for the game in Ireland? And obviously a more far fetched theory-England may not be able to poach a lot of players

MCGGG Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Test status? FFs, it's one thing for a minnow to fluke the odd win in a 50 over game, it's another thing entirely to be competitive in a test. They might start at 15 -1 to beat the likes of Australia-India-etc etc in a ODI, they would be 500-1 in a test

Associate teams wishing for test status should start doing A tours to test playing nations and prove their mettle there before thinking of test status.

I'm all for for the likes of Ireland to tour Australia as an A grade team to compete in the Sheffield sheild, but the only tests they should play are against other minnows.

I could see Eng playing ireland in one off matches at the start of their summer
