MCGGG Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 They were lucky to win yesterday against a minnow, they struggled against another minnow last week iirc, how will you rate them when Australia make them bite the pillow? Because Australia will go in dry, mark my words. NZ won't make the Semi finals IMO.
MK55 Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 The present team is superior to some of the teams they had sent in recent WCs. Have got most things covered. Mccullum in form at the top, Williamson in the middle order, Ronchi, Anderson in the lower order to give that impetus. Bowling has got variety. Some good swing bowlers, Milne... The best thing going for them is that these players are in very good form. But I don't see them as favorites against the top teams especially after seeing a bit of them in the warm-ups and Scotland. I'll be more worried of someone like Miller/ABD/Maxwell/Faulkner than say Ronchi/Anderson. Milne is exciting but he does not seem in top rhythm right now. IMO Southee's innocuous and there's not much to worry about him. Boult is a good bowler though. Brendon and Williamson are class players and getting them out will be crucial.
jusarrived Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 They will be pretty much impossible to beat at home , even for Aus .

MCGGG Posted February 17, 2015 Author Posted February 17, 2015 They will be pretty much impossible to beat at home ' date=' even for Aus .[/quote'] How about Scotland?
G_B_ Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 not really 10 matches 1 loss. Attacking batsman, a good spinner (Vettori), allrounders excellent in the field. bat deep. They are third favs behind Aus and SA. Which rightly reflects their position
CoverDrive Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 they are a good team. they won against scotland in 25 overs and thats what they were going for. they could have played conservatively and won in 30 overs with 5-6 wickets but NRR is important they are very confidant team right now and not going into shell. real test will be kncokouts and thier tendency to collapse will be tested
Number Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Not massively overrated. They are favorites after Aus and rightly so. Australia will destroy them though anywhere.
Sid_SuhaiL Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 No.. They r second favs behind OZ to win this WC & rightfully so. It was their foolish Run rate approach which cost them seven wickets yesterday when they could've easily chased it down with 2-3 down & 20 overs to spare
zen Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 In these conditions, NZ is not over-rated. It is bound to have one or two bad games, and it is lucky to get away with such games against associates. In '92 WC, NZ was simply superb, esp. Martin Crowe, who not only batted brilliantly but his tactics were brilliant as well such as using Patel to open the bowling :hatsoff: (I think Ind could take a leaf out of Crowe's book and depending upon conditions use guys like Ashwin strategically).... Unluckily for NZ, Crowe had to sit out in the SF and things did go that well for them in that game. NZ would prefer to have bad games out of the way in the group stages.
Pagalpanti Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 They thrashed SA (2nd fav after Aus) comprehensively. And buried SL in the 1st game. I hardly think they are massively over-rated. In fact I'd now put them right behind Aus as favs. SA seem off-colour ever since Aus smashed em 4-1.
veer Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 We'll find that out on 28th when they play Ozzies.. My money is on Kiwis..
HippoSucks Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Compared to the other teams they still are much better. They are a little dependent on Williamson but they have several other batsman to rescue the team if he fails (which doesn't happen too often). Their bowling is pretty strong and even Anderson bowls pretty well. At this stage they probably have an edge over even South Africa. It is a little far-fetched to say they are favorites over Australia though, but they aren't really over-rated.
Marut Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Overrated but not massively. The 92 NZ team won all league matches except one and this NZ team is not as good as the 92 NZ team. NZ generally punch above their weights in WC but manage to choke some where. They will not get past SF.
keith Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Overrated but not massively. The 92 NZ team won all league matches except one and this NZ team is not as good as the 92 NZ team. NZ generally punch above their weights in WC but manage to choke some where. They will not get past SF. This team is miles better than the 92 team. The 92 team only really had one player of genuine quality and made up the rest with good strategy and the dibbly dobblies. Australia is probably the most overrated team at this world cup.
maniac Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Overrated but not massively. The 92 NZ team won all league matches except one and this NZ team is not as good as the 92 NZ team. NZ generally punch above their weights in WC but manage to choke some where. They will not get past SF. The current Nzl team has probably the best new ball pair currently,One of the most destructive opening or WK-bat's of all time-sing,one of their ATG spinners.
Chalks Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Vettori playing in a winning WC team would be one of the best things ever.
