Stupid format of world cup

I might be among the few people who like the current format. Yes, a lot of 'pointless' games, but teams get a fair chance to get into form. The most consistent progress to the knockout round. I love knockout games. The sheer tension involved in knockouts, the do-or-die situations, boy it's fun. If a team has a bad day during the knockouts, tough luck to them. The biggest drawback to this is the threat of knockout games being washed out. But that's a detail that organizers should account for while scheduling. The one suggestion I'd make is to introduce IPL-style play-off matches in Round 2: Say A1, B1, C1 & D1 are the teams that progress from Pool A. Say A2, B2, C2 & D2 are the teams that progress from Pool B. 1. A1 vs B2 2. A2 vs B1 3. C2 vs D1 4. D2 vs C1 Winners of 1. & 2. progress to the semis. Losers of 1. & 2. play the winners of 3. & 4 in a knockout match. Winners progress. After that, it turns into regular semis, then final. The most consistent teams get a big advantage in Round 2. I think this will make the group stages way more meaningful as teams will try their best to qualify among the top 2. No tactical sandbagging by teams in the group stages as all games the play will matter. You add two more matches to the schedule, but the trade-off is that the value of the group stage matches increases.

Below method for Playoff works even without those two additional matches... It is just reshuffling of QF and calling two of them as eliminator ELIMINATOR : A3 vs B4 - E1 (Winner) B3 vs A4 - E2 (Winner) QUARTER FINAL : A2 vs E1 - QFW1 (Winner) B2 vs E2 - QFW2 (Winner) SEMI FINAL : A1 vs QFW1 - F1 (Winner) B1 vs QFW2 - F2 (Winner) FINAL : F1 vs F2 - Winner (Champions)

I like this format too. :two_thumbs_up: Raises the stakes of the group stages even more. Proper lottery :haha: Anything to avoid the super 6 stuff. I'm not really a fan. Why have another mini-group stage in round 2 when you've already had a group stage in round 1?

we'll see double headers only on the weekends and boring minnow matches(only 1 per day) on the weekdays :headshake:.this was such a boring week, they should have shorten the world cup by 10 days and kept double headers on at least 3-4 days per week

This format gives more emphasis on topping the respective groups. Jalebi bhai's format has an equal advantage to both 1,2 and they get an extra chance to qualify to the final even with ones loss similar to IPL. The only drawback is the 3rd 4th teams of each group will have to win 4 matches on the trot to win the worldcup, which gives them a very less probability.

++++1.Super 6 is worst. Basically you are filtering from 8-10 teams to 6 and then after superv6 it becomes 4. Especially carrying points from league stage. 1992 format with 8 teams is good, but needs to have an eliminator game IPL style for team which finishes 2nd but loses. Ah, I might well say IPL style with 8 team fomat playing once each is good . Rewards consistency as well as team which can withstand knockout pressure. I still believe minnows should play only champions trophy and not WC.

Working week goes to 6pm Friday. You are cutting out 20,000 fans by putting big games during the week. Said it before the WC, unfortunately this is the best format, although there is merit playing Australia's ordinary two (Afganistan and Bangladesh) on the weekday.

No.1 teams from groups will reach sf automatically?Change SF 2 B1 vs winner of qf.

Ridiculously long Huge gaps between matches Too many meaningless games Few close matches This tournament will be forgotten as soon as it ends.
Yep.
