G_B_ Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 what does chokshananda mean anyways? Many Sri lankans have such sanskirt oriented names.
vvvslaxman Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 I don't have many lungan cricketers. Aravinda is the only one i have to say.
Marut Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 what does chokshananda mean anyways? Many Sri lankans have such sanskirt oriented names. cokSha in Sanskrit means "pure", "pleasant". cokShAnanda means "pure bliss".
Marut Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 ^ Tamilians will probably note that its Tamil form is chokka (chokka is a Prakrit word) as in chokka-tangam or pure gold.
Temujin Khaghan Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 the thing about island countries is that antiquity and culture is saved for a long time. some of these buddhist srilankan cricketer names wouldnt be out of place even during the magadha age i guess.
Sonix768 Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Leaving the game on top form. Never seen him this consistent in ODIs. He can surely go on for 2 more years bu looking at the current form. If he concentrate only on ODI he could even go till next WC.
Texy Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Yup Sachin, Lara & Sanga...should be spoken of in the same sentence. Not to mention unlike the other two, he is also the wicketkeeper. Absolute legend. :hatsoff:
CoverDrive Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Great player. Also good to see him retiring when on top of his game. +1 right now he is actually at his peak
bones Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Truly great player, but a Class A d*ck as well. The way he answers questions before and after matches you would think SL only has the God given right to win matches. As for his innings yesterday, it was a poor innings. For the first 40-50 runs both he and Dilshan were both going at a decent click, but after his 50 he was poor. Didn't take the initiative and allowed the scoreboard to climb. Just because one of your great players scores a 100, it doesn't mean he can be excused from criticism.

I place him similar to Javed Miandad who you would hate being in opposition. tough competitor
MechEng Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Scored heavily against Pakistan, made 230 against Waqar Younis and Shoaib Akhtar in Asian test championship. Elegant batsman, top player.

Criticizing the batsmen (especially a century maker) makes no sense when they fail to chase these scores. SL looked good until Chandimal got retd hurt.
