The whole bat can not be in the air. some part of it around the handle has to be grounded for the bottom of the bat to be in the air and the handle and the area around it was clearly in.

Exactly.. both commentrators were saying he is out.. Bumble and Nasser what the hell? Base of his bat was clearly on the ground.. Lack of Physics lessons i think. But damn..

There is no conclusive evidence that the bat was completely in the air. Should have been given not out.
adi B Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 From one angle it looked that the handle was up in the air but just when they showed the reverse angle,I thought the shoulder of the bat was touching the ground.that should have been given not out but simon fry decided to take the final call based on the 1st angle which looked shoddy and looked out,wrong judgment
VRV Singh Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 When you look at the picture above it is quite clear that there was at least a chance the shoulder of the bat was grounded, in fact a very good chance. Giving that out is a bad decision, no certainty that the bat was in the air.

First picture clearly seems to suggest that it was out. You can see the shadow of the bat and there is clearly a gap between shadow of the bat and bat itself. If bat is grounded then shadow and object will merge as it is happening in the area around gloves. However, I would have given it not out myself. There was some amount of doubt and with so much of bat being inside crease, you got to give benefit of doubt to batsman.
