Anyway, it's too early to compare the two. If De Villiers can sustain this for a few more years then De Villers > Tendulkar, but at the moment I would favour Tendulkar.

Different era, different pitches, different challenges, different bowlers. You cannot say ABD is better just by average. The bowling that Sachin and Lara faced in the 90's was phenomenal. McGrath, Warne, Ambrose, Walsh, Donald, Pollock, Wasim, Waqar, Murali, Saqlain, Gillespie to name a few...You would be hard pressed to name 5 bowlers with similar quality in this era where the rules have made bowling even more toothless. If Sachin and Lara batted in this generation, you cannot guess how they would have done with these rules. In the same way we would never know how ABD would have done in the 90's on those pitches against that quality. So thats the reason we should never compare players across eras

He is a part time keeper, has not kept for even half of the matches he played. Going by your logic can we call MSD as better than Wasim since he is a wicket keeper ? Sure, he is one of the few players who can overtake Sachin.
