Dhawan's shot disgusts me. Not because he took a risk that particular ball but because it was very clear to everyone watching at the time, that he was going to keep playing his shots, taking ever more risk, until he got out. Either score 10 from 3 balls and get out, walk back with your head held high, and let someone else have a go OR go big and knock it around. His approach actually carries more risk than say what McCullum does leave aside respective ability. He handed control of his team's destiny to the gods. Dhawan does not leave the casino until he's lost all his money. What was his return for such sustained risk taking? 45 from 41 - very poor given the risk. His walk back to the crease represented failure for himself, and disappointment for the whole side. What was he trying to do win it in the 30th over? When a chosen player goes ballistic at the top and fails it's part of the agreed plan, it does not derail you. Dhawan transferred pressure from himself to the rest of the side. He had a good WC but ultimately the mental midget I always feared came to the fore. There is a reason India wins when he scores 50+. Dhawan should not be proud of this statistic. In a game of chance and risk, he is the weak link.

Yes he could've batted that one ball better but mistakes happen. Kohli and Rahane killed the match for us. Scored 45 runs from some 80 balls between them and the match was well and truly gone.

The middle order shares more blame. Dhawan gave India the best possible start with a bit of luck. He was trying to hit it over mid off I reckon but sliced it a little bit. But even after that the middle order played like idiots. What was that from Kohli? Rahane was too slow. Raina was incompetent.

I can accept poor form and many weaknesses in a batsman - in the end we struggled with the bounce. I will not tolerate mental weakness at this level. Forget the shot...it's not the shot it's his approach to the innings. He treats it like a personal quest for the great prize - he is but one cog. He squandered his team's position. That is unforgiveable. To all those saying the middle order collapsed...i fell asleep after Dhawan's wicket, i knew then it was over.

I'm generally not around after such games - first time and this is stupidity at its best.; someone blames IPL, some others Dhawan, some others Dhoni and then there is the CSK kaanspiracy angle. I don't think I've ever seen a large set of plastic fans at the same time.

I'm not blaming him for the loss. I just don't rate Dhawan. He made me eat my words for much of the WC and I must vomit on his face.
