Regarding chasing big totals i don't think same combination going to work. Gayle 1 Kohli 3 AB 4 is the best option if we find a another opener [again this keeping in mind Kohli's recent form] Ideally team should allow Gayle to play tutk tuk for first 10/15 balls..this means we need another opener who can score quick 20 ball 30.
