asterix Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 Rahu baba saying Modi govt will snatch internet and give it to corporates The public will believe it... He's saying exact things which public will believe... IMO BJP has been too passive against it's opponents...
coffee_rules Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 Can't imagine the press giving a non congress opposition leader (not even the LOOP), getting so much coverage for idiotic comments, during 2004 to 2014. Presstitutes and what not.
BeautifulGame Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 The public will believe it... He's saying exact things which public will believe... IMO BJP has been too passive against it's opponents... The usual public who usually get fooled by rhetoric speeches doesn't care or know about net neutrality. BJP if losing it in public andthen its mainly in the famer land acquisition bill .They didn't even bother to explain much until it created a storm . Now Venkaiah Naidu is crying opposition spreading false info .

Sachin=GOD Posted April 25, 2015 Author Posted April 25, 2015 And now real intentions coming out :giggle: Idiots don't even know they are not competing with whatsapp and Skype but that is where money will be in future . They are just thinking of the short term and are not ready to accept new technology. Happens in every sector when something disruptive comes in. Telcos will whine for a while and then be forced to accept WhatsApp/Skype etc and then make huge profits in the long term AND act as if they were always in favor of these new apps.

Yes..that's why in this thread before I asked how much difference there is going to be in revenue etc and with 4g coming they should have no difference I think coffee rules explained it. What I do not get is they are not in isolation from entire world where this has already happen and many of these co spines have links with those developed countries ..also no way in hell whatsapp or Skype will pay them enough to cover 6 times the cost that's pure bs
amiret Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 25th April 2015 Telecom companies have demanded that all communication services like Skype, Whatsapp Voice should be brought under the same rules as full fledged telecom service providers. In the press conference held Friday, telecom service providers said they do not want all applications to be brought under a licensing regime. But as far as communication service providers like Skype, Viber or Whatsapp Voice are concerned, they want the same rules as telecom service providers, which effectively means that they should be brought under the same licensing regime, they should pay similar levies to the government as these telecom service providers do. Gopal Vittal CEO, Bharti Airtel said that the company needs to make an investment of Rs 5,00,000 crore. “With the return on capital that the industry has which is 1 percent the real question is for communication services there must be the same rules,†he added. http://www.moneycontrol.com/news/cnbc-tv18-comments/net-neutrality-herestelcosnow-looking-for_1367101.html?utm_source=ref_article On the entire debate on traffic management techniques adopted by telecom companies like imposing data caps and zero rating, telecom service providers said that this is a matter of great debate and some traffic management techniques will have to be adopted but to what extent is something that still remains to be debated and discussed.
Texan Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Govt should not compromise on net neutrality. If telcos say that they will raise prices 6 times, tell them to go ahead. They will lose business if they do that. Quite frankly, competition amongst themselves will prevent them from having such a huge hike. Prices might just go up marginally. Eventually, India will get to the point where Unlimited talk and text will be the norm for a basic plan and you will only be paying extra for the bandwidth that you use.
Kalia_Test Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 This is a polarizing issue and it is like Bush saying either you are with us or the terrorists. No middle path Telcos are saying that they have to invest a lot to enable call tracking, etc to abide by Govt rules when they ask for call logs, etc. This is for national security. They are asking for a level playing field i.e these data based call apps have to comply with the same laws as telcos have to for voice based services. Too much to ask? I dont think so - no compromise on national security IMO. Now 2 terrorists can merrily talk on whatsapp call feature and bloody no one can trace it? If it is possible to do so in data based apps, who should bear the cost? Telcos or the OTT providers? You cannot just put some software to enable data based calling and expect Telcos to invest in all regulatory compliance. What if the OTT provider servers are in an enemy country? Can you expect them to provide accurate data? I know this forum will be mad at me and talk about some channels, net neutral, tunnell and money hungry telcos and how they make tons of money, data growth, etc. However, I have open mind. Valid arguments from Telcos should be adhered to. For starters, voice based data apps like whatsapp, Viber, etc should be asked to comply with ALL regulatory aspects that a pure voice based Telco is asked to comply with. If they want to liaise with the Telco, fine. Let them pay the Telco. If after paying Telcos, they can still offer services for free, good - go ahead.
