Now that BJP is in power, it refused to declassify files and Cong, which had been doing exactly the same for decades, is now asking BJP to declassify files.

If it was Nehru then a Modi led BJP would have happily released the files and if it was Patel then probably Cong would have released it because it has for a long time tried do make the country forget Sardar Patel while making Nehru even bigger :hmmm:

Only thing that makes sense is we have confidentiality agreements with countries like Russia/Japan etc and will create unnecessary hue .

My theory is that Nehru had Stalin take care of Bose, with blessings from England. There might be diplomatic pressure from Russia to withhold the files. Bose was a political rival to Nehru and was considered a war criminal by Britain. All the motive necessary. Consider the geo-political scene at the time. We were heading into the arms race era. US and USSR were trying to establish their hegemony in the world. News that USSR had killed an Indian icon would've antagonized it in front of the world and more importantly, among Indians. This is just my theory.
