velu Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 IPL should be extend to minimum 6 to 9 months a year. agree with debotroll.. we can do better off with EPL/La Liga style league games.. 60 games roughly in 5 weeks is not enough cricket for hardcore IPL fans like us.. we can have have 2 halves spread over 5 months each with a 2 month break in between .. matches will be played usually on weekends and need to have 14 or 16 teams .. with more teams , we got to see :mi: getting banged again and again :--D
FischerTal Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 better than 2015 WC because it was the most boring WC in history
Ultimate_Game Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Had we won the WC it would have been the best WC ever coz we would've won it in Aus. But since we didn't IPL is supposed to be better than WC. Fact - WC >>>>>> IPL Nobody gives a shyte about which team wins the IPL or even who won it 2 seasons back but everyone would love to see their team win the WC. No match in IPL can generate the excitement or exhilaration we felt when India beat Pakistan and SA.
Debutant Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 For one India Pakistan match we had to endure 5 one sided boring matches. Whereas 90% of IPL matches awesome. So yes I would rather watch IPL all round year rather than internationals.
Debutant Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 What is bull crap that everyone remembers WC win. What is the point of remembering a cup win other than bragging. Sports is for entertainment and IPL provides that. When I come back from office I would rather watch an IPL match than remember something we did years ago

PBN Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 lol, this is going a little over the top. I wouldn't say IPL is better than the WC. For starters, they're two different formats and the intensity is much more in the WC esp in a Indo Pak match. Though whichever format my team plays, I get passionate in supporting them. One thing I'll say that when people say that they can remember WC games and not the IPL ones, you have take into consideration that IPL ( or such tourneys) have many more games i.e 60 matches each year (500+ over 8 years) so you need better memory to remember them obviously :P

kubrickian Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Cant really say because its like apples and oranges. But I would say this. World Cup was boring as fock because there were so many poor sides and one sided games. Even the knock out games were boring. Only interesting games were the Semi Final between NZ and SA and the league game between Aus and NZ. Even the matches featuring Australia had lots of empty seats. IPL doesnt have the same importance because its a domestic T20 league but because of the short format and evenly matched sides and the great atmosphere, it has already provided more entertainment in terms of thrills and fun and close games which is what its billed to provide. Its a quick fix for people who love watching cricket but dont want to put too much investment into it and who dont have much time to watch other formats. IPL has delivered in that regard. Important thing is to keep innovating, evolving, bring new things which keeps viewers interested and excited but stay true to the basic rules of cricket.
CG Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Comparing t20 with odi WC is lol worthy. In t20 WC most matches were close.its the format.
brendan07 Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Not for me, still too much absolute pie chucking bowling. Umpiring has been very poor too (Boult's dead plumb lbw not given just one). Give me a ODI thanks. You get to see Starc, Boult, MJ, etc swing the ball and bowl 10 overs.

Take a loot at attendance of quarter final between Australia nd Pakistan. World cup is just overhyped in India.
yoda Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 WC and Olympics are the pinnacle of sporting events. It is absurd to even compare these events to local domestic sporting league.
