Gollum Posted May 11, 2015 Author Posted May 11, 2015 Guess what these savages are up to these days :hysterical: ISIS opens 5-star hotel for Jihadist commanders - Dreaded Islamic State terror group has purportedly opened its own 5-star hotel complete with 262 rooms, restaurants, ballrooms and gym in Iraq's Mosul city for its Jihadist commanders - The hotel is believed to be the Ninawa International Hotel, which received a number of positive reviews before being overtaken by militants and stripped of its branding - Pictures circulated by Islamic State of Iraq and Syria-affiliated social media accounts show members tending to a well-maintained garden, polishing floors and cleaning windows, expansive swimming pools and two black ISIS flags flying at the front of the multi-storey building. - ISIS-affiliated Twitter accounts were promoting an event to mark the hotel's opening night on May 1, where all Muslims were told they could attend for free. :cantstop: - Images from the event show dozens gathered around pools during the day, followed by a firework display in the evening. - Charlie Winter, a researcher for the counter-extremism think tank Quilliam, said the propaganda was likely an attempt by ISIS to suggest bombing campaigns by the US-led coalition had not managed to destabilize the group or life in territories under its self-declared caliphate. - The images are a departure from ISIS' typical propaganda, which usually depicts buildings and monuments being bulldozed as opposed to maintained, the report said. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/world/middle-east/ISIS-opens-5-star-hotel-for-jihadist-commanders/articleshow/47178020.cms After 5-star hotel, ISIS opens shopping mall - In a bid to woo foreign fighters, the Islamic State ( ISIS) has reportedly opened its first shopping mall in Mosul. - Called Khalifah Mall, the place is crammed with pots and pans, cleaning equipment, cooking oils and chick peas, reported Daily Star. - The terror outfit has banned top sportswear brands such as, Nike for being un-Islamic. Apparels carrying logos have also been outlawed under idolatry laws :hysterical: and shopkeepers are forbidden from selling anything linked to the United States. - The group has also barred booze, music and dancing under sharia law. The only books that are available are religious texts. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/world/middle-east/After-5-star-hotel-ISIS-opens-shopping-mall/articleshow/47204979.cms

Gollum Posted May 15, 2015 Author Posted May 15, 2015 Ancient Ruins at Palmyra Are Endangered by ISIS Advance in Syria - BEIRUT, Lebanon — Islamic State militants advanced to the outskirts of the Syrian town of Palmyra on Thursday, putting the extremist group within striking distance of some of the world’s most magnificent antiquities. - That raised fears that the ancient city of Palmyra, with its complex of columns, tombs and ancient temples dating to the first century A.D., could be looted or destroyed. Militants from the Islamic State, also known as ISIS or ISIL, have already destroyed large parts of ancient sites at Nimrud, Hatra and Nineveh in Iraq. Islamic State leaders denounce pre-Islamic art and architecture as idolatrous even as they sell smaller, more portable artifacts to finance their violent rampage through the region. - The fighting on Thursday took place little more than a mile from the city’s grand 2,000-year-old ruins, which stand as the crossroad of Greek, Roman, Persian and Islamic cultures. - People in Palmyra described a state of anxiety and chaos, with residents trying to flee the northern neighborhoods. “People are scared, staying home, we’re hearing loud noises outside but we don’t know what’s happening,” said Mohammad, who runs an antiques shop near the gates of the ancient ruins and who asked to be identified only by his first name to protect his safety. “If the roads were safe, we would leave the town, but pray for us, and pray for peace.” - The soldier and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a monitoring group based in Britain, said that civilians had also been killed, some of them beheaded, in the town of Soukhna several miles outside Palmyra. - The advance on Palmyra, also known as Tadmur, gave the Islamic State more control over the highway from the town to the eastern province of Deir al-Zour and parts of a sprawling gas field. It comes at a time when the government of President Bashar al-Assad has faced new challenges in the seemingly implacable civil war. A coalition of rival insurgent groups recently wrested the northern provincial capital of Idlib from government control. Death and destruction everywhere, bloody barbarians, rot in hell!!!!! http://www.nytimes.com/2015/05/15/world/middleeast/ancient-ruins-at-palmyra-are-endangered-by-isis-advance-in-syria.html?_r=0

Clarke Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 There is no stopping these monsters, is there? If this level of evil couldn't unite the Arabs/Persians & fight them, nothing will. They're too busy trying to extend their individual spheres of influence in conflict zones like Yemen. This is also an opportunity where UN should typically step up, seems the western powers are wary of fighting other's battles.

Raghav_12 Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 Recent news of ISIS advances have come against the run of things and have been very disappointing. After quick gains that ISIS had made between June to Oct last year, they were stalled. And subsequently Iraqi forces had managed to reduce the area that ISIS controls. They had also received crushing defeat in town of Kobani. It looked like US strategy of targeted air-strikes is working. But suddenly these seems to be revival in fortunes of ISIS. With Ramadi fallen, they can have a shot at Baghdad. In Syria as well, they have made lot of progress. I am sure US will have to rethink of it's strategy against ISIS> They eventually may be forced to put boots on ground. OP- there is another thread on ISIS news. May be you can use that. I had thought this thread to be on ISIS and India.
Gollum Posted May 23, 2015 Author Posted May 23, 2015 ^^ There is no separate thread for ISIS news. I created this thread just for 'ISIS and India updates' but mods merged another separate thread(post 8) with this one, so I started posting updates from outside India too. From here on in I will update only India centric updates here, may be another thread can be used to update ISIS news in general.
