Sachin=GOD Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 People seriously think that PCB's money (the very small amount that it earns, if at all it has profits) goes to terrorism
jalebi_bhai Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 People seriously think that PCB's money (the very small amount that it earns' date=' if at all it has profits) goes to terrorism [/quote'] And you know for a fact that it doesn't? I'm saying that there is a possibility. In our country itself there are thousands of bogus NGOs who carry out anti-developmental activities; you don't think that it is possible that a small part of PCB's revenue could be used for funding terror? This is a country that considers us to be its enemy. I'm a firm believer in the saying that where there is a motivation to do something, there is always a possibility that the event might event. I may sound paranoid, but if you want, I can elaborate.
Sachin=GOD Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 I really don't understand why is it that some people ONLY have problem with playing cricket with Pak. Pak singers/actos come to India or Bollywood movies are released in Pak - no issues. A few days ago Ghulam Ali performed at Sankat Mochan temple in Varanasi - no issues. Pak authors come to Jaipur Literature Festival - no issues. Pak & India rescue each others citizens from Yemen - no issues. India and Pak played a 2 match football series in India in Aug 2014 - no issues. India Pak trade expo happened last year - no issues. Pak food festival (which had businessmen from Pak running stalls of food, clothes, jewelry etc) happened in Lucknow, Agra etc a few weeks ago - no issues. Only when you talk about cricket that some people start having problems...

jalebi_bhai Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 I'm not even against us playing the series. I'm just saying that unless we use it to our strategic advantage, it is pointless to try and mend ties using cricket.
Lannister Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 How many of the above events generate serious revenue for the Pak govt.? Not to mention it's a known fact that the likes of Dawood became more powerful because of his involvement in Cricket and the revenue it generates.
jalebi_bhai Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 Not to mention it's a known fact that the likes of Dawood became more powerful because of his involvement in Cricket and the revenue it generates. Exactly. The major cricket betting syndicates are run by Indians and Pakistanis. The sums of money involved are grotesque. I grew up in Dubai and have a couple of friends who got themselves involved in IPL betting. IPL betting in the UAE (this was not even last year)! They barely managed to break even and save their asses. You simply cannot think of this in a parochial manner.
Raghav_12 Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 The Pakistan government takes money from the PCB? You do realise that Pakistan is not a village but infact a pretty decent sized country. We have better things to do than worrying about India' date= let alone spending money from a cricket board to finance terror. Don't you guys use terror as part of your state policy? Some part of every single rupee that goes to state exchequer ends up fuelling terrorism in one or other part of the world. I am in favor of this series as it is immaterial in reference of strategic relationships between India and pakistan. But saying that Pakistan has nothing to do with terror is like saying Tarntino has nothing to do with movies.
Malcolm Merlyn Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 People seriously think that PCB's money (the very small amount that it earns' date=' if at all it has profits) goes to terrorism [/quote'] 90mn USD for Tv rights for 2 series only.Majority of which will be because of Indian audience. Then there is the series and ground sponsorship. Conservative estimates put the total at 150mn USD.
G_B_ Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 I think we cant dispute the fact that its a big revenue raiser. That is for sure.
bsriharsha Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 Guys, There's a difference between people and the Governments. Lets not be so idiotic as to equate the two together. Yes , Pakistan Government has a lot to do to bring the culprits of the terrorist attacks to justice and the terrorism in the region is because the Government has made it it's policy to "bleed india with a thousand cuts" Let's not be so naive as to think that there isn't a chance that the Indian Government isn't supplying arms and training to some of the balochi rebels and terrorists. Taking apart the nationality and the misplaced jingoism that exists , The majority of the people of India and Pakistan are largely similar in their mindset , outlook and behaviour. Some of the common traits being idiocy etc etc

Taking apart the nationality and the misplaced jingoism that exists , The majority of the people of India and Pakistan are largely similar in their mindset , outlook and behaviour. Some of the common traits being idiocy etc etc Watch the video I've posted. Why does the defence minister not share any factual evidence? Even if India does have intel in Balochistan (I'm inclined to believe we do) it is solely in retaliation to the non-sense carried out by the ISI. What's good for the goose is good for the gander, right? There was a time under Indira when we were being too meddlesome (1971 excluded) but our entire intel setup was completely dismantled in the 90s. This coincided with a bullish Pakistan after the Soviet-Afghan war. 90s India was a free for all. After the 2001 parliamentary attacks, RAW had to be re-established In full earnest. Think of it in this way, if you wake up a sleeping tiger by constantly kicking it, should you complain about it waking up and tearing you to shreds? It's not like we have a Ghulam Nabi Fai trying to influence the foreign policy of other nations to suit our devious goals.

True. Just that knowing how *****y politics can be , I wouldn't rule out the possibility Indian Involvment in Balochistan. It's possible , maybe not probable. History has shown who's abetted terrorists etc etc, and there's a lot of trust deficit when it comes to dealing with Pakistan's Government. But there has to be a line drawn in the sand. I don't believe in Cricket diplomacy. Either engage with Pakistan or don't. Can't be allowing other sports to happen keeping Cricket out. There's nothing to lose by having India play Pakistan. Only wish it had been in SA,Eng,Aus instead of the dead pitches of UAE
mishra Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 espncricinfo report says BCCI bosses unhappy with Ten Sports owner Esselgroup. So they wont play home series against pakistan as it benefits Esselgroup. But do they have a choice in this matter. They would have to pay off Zee some compensation and then get another broadcaster in Star to get this matches. Pakistan's contract is with Ten Sports and Ten Sports isn't about to let a money making series go to waste. This has the potential to get very messy.
adi B Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 Bad move, the present goi shouldn't give a green flag for a series against Pakistan
Malcolm Merlyn Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 Indian Ambassador in Kabul was targetted yesterday and 4 Indians were killed.Doubt this series will happen.
