On Sajjan Jindal's role in modi-sharif / indo-pak discussions -

FirstPost :

Sajjan Jindal, a steel magnate, may have played cupid and convinced Indian PM Modi to fly by Lahore and spend some quality time with his Pakistani counterpart, Nawaz Sharif. Seeing as how the Jindals and the Sharifs have common interest in steel for over two generations, it is possible he was the catalyst especially since he was also in Lahore

Barkha Dutt (excerpts from her book ) :

..unknown to the media and certainly the public at large - and in yet more proof that basically there was nothing doctrinaire about Modi's ideological formulations-both he and Sharif had found someone to keep them connected even when things got difficult.

  • When Sharif was in Delhi, Jindal hosted a tea party for the Pakistani premier right after his meeting with Modi. It attracted little attention in the Indian media but in Pakistan, Sharif drew flak for finding time for Jindal and not for Kashmiri separatists
  • no secret that Indian steelmakers, both state and private players, were looking to foster friendly relations with Pakistan; they needed this to happen so they could ferry iron ore from Afghanistan by road across Pakistan from where it would be shipped to ports in western and southern India.

But no journalist has brought up this -

The CBI chargesheet against Sajjan Jindal and his links with certain political parties. In 2012  CBI filed chargesheet against Sajjan Jindal and BS Yeddyurappa . CBI filed charges of criminal conspiracy, forgery and corruption against Yeddyurappa and JSW steel led by Sajjan Jindal . Jindal was named as an accused in the chargesheet .

CBI said Yeddyurappa abused his official position to benefit JSW Steel. :hmmm:

“The accused hatched a criminal conspiracy during 2006-2010. The family members of Yeddyurappa purchased a (plot) of Rs.40 lakh after violating and bending norms. The land was then sold to JSW at an exorbitant rate of Rs.20 crore when its market value was only Rs.1.5 crore,” the agency alleged in its chargesheet.

“The company paid Rs.20 crore as quid pro quo to the former Karnataka chief minister for not insisting on the recovery of Rs.890 crore loss caused to a state-run public sector unit Mysore Minerals Ltd. The said PSU was in a joint venture with JSW Steel. The money was paid through sister companies as a donation to the trust run by the kin of the then chief minister,” the chargesheet added. "

According to a senior pak journalist and Khurshid Kasuri (ex-foreign minister of Pak who was recently in India to promote his book ) -

The Pak army considers the NSA talks between Lieutenant General (R) Nasir Janjua and Ajit Doval to be a major "breakthrough" .

Make of that what you will .

nasir janjua retired from the Pak army just 2 months ago and was immediately appointed as the NSA . He was earlier posted in balochistan and tasked with crushing the Balochistan liberation struggle.

If the Pak army considers the NSA talks to be a breakthrough , one can only wonder what was offered to them . :hmmm:

I Don't like Modi's flip-flops... He should be given Nobel Peace Prize ASAP before his Flip-Flops claim more civilian and Security forces lives... For past 18 months he's on a mission to break the Guinness World Record of visiting most countries by any head of state and trying to become an NRI PM... He's harming BJP. He's not focused in domestic issues. He appears to be on ABV mode w.r.t. Pak Policy...It's going to bite his back and his hardcore supporters will find it difficult to support him...

He and his teams has taken things for granted... What a shame... Had high hopes on him... He's effing become an NRI PM completely disconnected from the Internal Issues...

We have cancelled the NSA talks that was scheduled later this month with Pakistan .

Doval Have said won't have any talks until they take action against the terrorists involved in Pathankot attack.

Literally have no idea what was the point of trying to ignite talks with Pakistan or visiting Pakistan .

What was point of changing the stance that no talks until action against Mumbai terrorists .

And if the intention was terrorism shouldnt affect peace talks with Pakistan then why cancel the talks after Pathankot attack .

India to set up a satellite tracking and imaging centre in southern Vietnam.

• The satellite will give Hanoi access to pictures that cover the region, including China and the South China Sea.

• The move, which could irritate Beijing, deepens ties between India and Vietnam.

Three failures on Part of India within few week.

1. CPEC officially opened.

2. Russian and Iranian openly warned by India to NOT to deal with Taliban. What the hell diplomats were thinking.

3. Russia says it is going to put its weight behind CPEC

How is CPEC opening a failure for India?  I don't see it that way.  Let the Colonization of Pakistan to Enrich China, continue without any problems.

Diplomacy is the art of the possible - no harm in "talking", especially since the taliban have proven that they are an organization that's not going away anytime soon.

Are you sure Russians are not supporting OBOR, and not CPEC - look at the map.  There's a new train from China all the way to Europe via the 'stans.  That's the Russian sphere of influence, and it makes eminent sense for the Roosi to support that.  CPEC is just a secondary service road for OBOR with a few truck stops thrown in, so that the Pakistanis can keep the Chinese infrastructure companies busy and make tidy profits.  No need to take it as a big deal - sure its a big deal for the Pak military and mafia - they will get a nice opportunity to enrich themselves, while govt of Pakistan is saddled with more debt.

1. See China as competitor and above statement  changes its meaning. Before giving up that China is way ahead, Think China is a enemy which is encroaching our borders from all side. We have unresolved disputes against them and they will simply grab the pieces of land that is unresolved.

2. No , Chutiyap was term "Warning" and then putting the info in "public domain",  that too to Russians and Iranians, with whom current admin and past Congress admin will know the people who know the people who can deal it behind the closed door by arranging meeting. We are still puny in eyes of world, but are respected for our values and pottential.Lets not get ahead of ourselves.

3. Russian do like to play a game of let the supply pipe between producer and consumer pass through their territory and cut it off as and when needed. So CPEC negates that influence. Them dealing with China is lack of choice.
