I found Salar Jung museum, Birla Mandir, Hussain Sagar, Ramoji Film City, Golconda, Lumbini Park better than this defaced, rotting clog. I know many Hyderabadis(sorry Kalia) pride it to be the symbol of the city, I have no idea why. :giggle: Moreover from many sources have come to find out that no one in this area pays water bills/electricity bills/ taxes. So giving it such a high priority seems puzzling to say the least. Anyways congrats to Hyderabadis, hopefully you get these facilities in other public areas also. Once when I was in college ( and had a student bus pass ), I dozed off in the RTC bus and could not get down in Koti and bus went to its destination Charminar. 2nd time ( around 8 yrs or so ago ) when one of our Clients ( a woman Executive ) wanted to buy some Pearls on her visit to Hyd from Old City and I was made the bakra to escort her. Hope you can understand my love for Charminar from the above :two_thumbs_up:

nikred Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 I consider myself a very proud hyderabadi. I have been to charminar countless times. As a kid I used to be excited when I used to view charminar from a distance. For me charminar meant one thing and one thing only, that I am only 10 minutes away from my grandma's home. NareshK Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 I'm from Hyderabad, born and raised. Never been to Charminar. I heard there is nothing worth watching there. You get to climb some steps and you can have a view of the area around the monument which I'm told is not particularly impressive. As a kid, the whole old city area was off limits because it was crime prone and was considered an unsafe place and there was paranoia about going there. Now its mostly considered a normal area but never needed to go there. Maybe some day, I will visit. Women folk are usually more interested to visit Charminar because of the famous bangle shops around that area.
