People have started to judge the guy as if they've been laying down their whole life researching on Sahtri's tactics. Let's be savage and have a go at him when he pulls off a Fletcher.

The current Indian team is not particularly fond of Gavaskar.

Its not correct to say he has zero coaching credentials...Within a short time he has gained the backing and support of the team..Kohli said that it was shastri who suggested a change in his batting technique which helped him score so well in Australia..
Brainfade Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 The current Indian team is not particularly fond of Gavaskar. Not surprised. He just comes off as impatient, short-tempered and over-critical. Not good qualities in a coach. Again, none of us know these guys personally, so it's all speculation.

Two year contract as well based on cricinfo .As long Kohli is happy with the decision and has a good relationship with him good decision imo Ultimately coaches are irrelevant mostly in (Indian) cricket . It's always Captain who has the main authority and Coach more of a supportive role .

HippoSucks Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 I don't think him being the coach means much. The respective coaches for each field (batting, bowling and fielding) will do most of the coaching anyway. Not a terrible decision though. Should be interesting to see how he does.
