England doctoring pitches, again!!

It's been pretty much well known now for the past couple of years that the new drainage systems in England have been sucking all moisture from the pitches leaving them dry and lifeless. Even India played on slow pitches in Lords and Trent Bridge. Who in their right minds would prepare slow pitches for a subcontinent team? As long as the pitch is good enough to produce a result it shouldn't be a problem.

****ing Aussies are the last people to complain about the pitch' date='cricket on those concrete drop in pitches are near unwatchable.[/quote'] What are you on about? We don't cook pitches hoping to win the ****ing toss retard, we don't need to.

These Aussies are just overrated journeymen. Take away Harris and a little purple patch for Johnson and they are average mediocre team. The only reason you lot won 5-0 last time was because England were still hung over and drunk from the 3-0 and three series wins in a row. They got too complacent and Swann and a few others were already planning retirement. Aus are done now. Back to being the 4th or 5th best test team.

Do you know probability theory? Probably not since the British sent over the dumb and idiots to Australia.

What the hell u saying?? This Australian side will hammer England again back in Australia, they'll prepare tracks with more bounce to suit their bowlers. England are pathetic away from home as well,u guys have prepared flat pitches with no bounce so that you don't get embarrassed by aus at home as well (nothing wrong though)

India prepare pitches to suit their own' date=' as do we, but England prepare pitches for the toss, and they know winning the toss is the only hope they have, I'm bitterly disappointed cricket lovers as yourselves don't see this, sigh.[/quote'] 'win toss = bat' is a truism of ANY pitch that has inconsistent bounce. They can be slow but seaming surfaces like this one in Cardiff or slow and turning, fast and crumbly ( Think Bangalore in 90s), etc etc. But that truism is overplayed here. 'win toss = bat' pitches are a bit of a disadvantage to the toss losing side, but not huge. The task is simple: bowl with discipline and patience in 1st innings, then bat with discipline in your first innings. Even if you bat second, but end up with a 50-75 run lead ( which is doable, if you can restrict the side batting first to 300-350 MAXIMUM), you will be in the driver's seat. The trouble is, when you fail miserably in the first two days of the match, then you cannot win it in the next 3 , with pitches with variable bounce. Aussies did exactly that: by end of day 2, England had scored 430, AUS were 264/5, i.e., forget about the all-important lead, they were in deep doo-doo, 166 runs behind with 5 bottom wickets left. The aussies knew that they had lost by day 3 morning, when they ended up over a 100 runs behind on first innings on a pitch that has variable bounce. They don't have an Ambrose and Walsh and this isn't England of the 90s where you could bundle then out for 130 in the 2nd innings. So they are whining. Happens to all the sides, when they come up with unfavorable conditions and cannot cope

I do think that English pundits are hypocrites w.r.t pitch doctoring. But they simply outplayed Australia here. The pitch was pretty good and some dumb senseless adventurism by Aussie top order opened the floodgates. Australia had no business losing this match especially with day 5 being expected to be washed off. Most of the Aussie batsmen seem to struggle outside Aus/RSA and they need to fix that problem in stead of whining about the pitch. Had this been Indian bowling Smith and Clarke would have scored 600 runs in the first innings. All credit to the English lads who play attritional cricket better than any other team in the world.

Don't see a problem as long as both teams are playing on the same pitch - its not like Eng batted on one pitch and bowled on the adjacent pitch. If Eng is better equipped for the conditions, then kudos to them. When SC teams go to WACA, Brisbane - they know about the bounce but still can't do much as they dont have the bowling to exploit the conditions or batting to thrive. Can't call it doctoring. Same when Aus,Eng visit SC. That is why SA is the best team for all conditions. They dont crib about pitches and have players who have an all-round game for all conditions.
Absolutely untrue Kalia. Remember their rona dhona after Kanpur 2008 when they lost under 3 days on a traditional Indian turner. Also their commies keep on talking trash about Indian/SC pitches.

Seeing first innings scores England batted pretty well and Australia did ok. No excuses if you don't play well in first innings and also letting moen score is pretty poor as well. Don't know if they tried to bounce him out. Even Johnson scored like 70 in 2nd with out him they would 130 all out. That's poor. Probably they will not have Strac as well for 2nd test. Australia is really strong in home conditions. But meh outside. Tough times ahead for them.i see England winning unless they turn it around.
Dear Gattaca....have u seen Moen play.....He played really well and there was no contribution from Australian bowlers for his success......honestly speaking, he is the second best batsmen after Joe Root in the current England team considering form / talent

Infact every team right now is pathetic away from home. Only exception to certain extent is SA....Why blame only England

England, India and West Indies doctor their pitches to go against the opposing teams. Australia, South Africa and New Zealand are pitches due to conditions. I mean what you see is what you get in Australia. You know the Gabba will have true bounce, Sydney will turn, Adelaide is for batting, Melbourne is everything, Perth is speed and Hobart is seam. New Zealand you'll get a lot low seaming decks and South Africa bouncy decks that are quick. So it is harder to doctor pitches since the curators do their own stuff. But England made their conditions work for them. Australia just need to be better on those decks, they need to find a way to win.

You keep a pitch out in the heat, with the sun baking it then naturally its going to be break and turn if you cut the grass. Infact how is keeping or cutting the grass on the pitch due to "natural conditions". Maybe you know stuff in australia cause you use drop in pitches. If anything England is a place where overhead conditions can affect play more than ever.Even the flattest pitch the ball will start swinging if it is overcast.

These days India doctor it but that's not a bad thing. They have to doctor it to make it 5 days. It's not a bad thing. England though have gotten a rid of a lot of grass for Cardiff. It was green but they were ordered to get rid of the grass mainly because the County needed the $$$

no they dont dude. Pitches in India have turned and they remain the same... if anything looking at the number of draws over the past decade and in the 80s and 90s they have been more result oriented. Glamorgan (Cardiff) has always been a spin friendly for the past 6-7 years. Like like the SCG, certain grounds in England like the Oval Edgbaston (post renovation) and Cardiff do favour the spinners. Places like Headingley Durham etc are pace friendly. The rose bowl has bounce and old Trafford is really dependent on the weather. Trent bridge i guess is all round. It has something in it for everybody. Lords has been flattening out. Last year was an exception. Australia should push for Durham and Heaingley is they want friendly surfaces. Its also similar to when Australia tour India. When England tour India its early in the Indian domestic season. By the time Australia tour post Jan a lot of the pitches and grounds are used for local matches. So there is a degree of natural wear and tear.

Pitch was definitely around disgrace. It wasnt consitent by the end o day one. But Aussies didnt loose because of that. They lost because of poor batting in first inning. All of their batters got a decent start but were out in /around thirties. If Ali ,Johnson, Wood can score runs on the pitch then Smith and Rogers can. Also Clarke is spent force. He should have retired last Ashes itself. It was a Pathetic performance from touring England last Ashes which kept him in team

Watch this pitch wither like an egg in the sun.
No way, Its doctored to be "benign pitch". It will hold for all 5 days. I expect English batsmen to slowdown things further and make it a dead match when they come to bat unless off course scoreboard pressure kicks in.

It's similar to the last doctored pitch, variable bounce on day 1 lol. This game is over.

Funny how it's been overcast in England for the last 4 days before the test, why is the pitch a ****ing dustbowl then? This is a 3rd day pitch on day 1, heads up, the next pitch they prepare will be the same, win the toss bat and win.
