The alertness and bravery of a bus driver saved several lives as terrorists launched an attack here in Punjab on Monday. Punjab Roadways driver Nanak Chand did not panic even when the terrorists fired at the bus and instead scared the terrorists by driving towards them. As the terrorists, numbering four, moved back, the driver swerved the bus and drove it away. Since shots were fired at the bus, Nanak Chand drove it straight to a government hospital to get the injured passengers treated. He also called up the police to inform about the incident. "There were 75 passengers in the bus. I thought that it was important to save their lives. I did not stop the bus," Nanak Chand told journalists. The incident took place around 5:30am on Monday. "The driver's alertness saved several lives. Otherwise, the passengers could have been an easy target for the terrorists," said a Punjab Roadways general manager. http://www.hindustantimes.com/india-news/gurdaspur-terror-attack-hero-bus-driver-saved-many-lives/article1-1373663.aspx
Great presence of Mind :hatsoff:

Terrorists had some balls to take on a Punbus driving a Maruti 800. Thank God their worthless brains didn't pick up a larger vehicle or things could have been different. Kudos to the bus-driver for keeping his composure.

Apparently he noticed that the terrorists were wearing masks and that's how he thought they weren't actually from the military. However if it was me I would have just thought that sometimes military people do cover their faces. Great presence of mind. Saved the lives of 70+ people on the bus. :hatsoff:

Mad props. Prevented a bloodbath. Should be awarded ashok chakra or something. Apparently, Paki scumbags also laid IEDs on a railway track. Train driver stopped well in advance to prevent derailment and massive casualities. Also there is a girls school opposite to the police station but since it was early in the morning, there was nobody present. Another bullet dodged. This could have been many times worse than 26/11.

The bus and the train incidence would have caused 100s of deaths. Grateful to the presence of mind of our personnel. :hatsoff:
