Or is it just about aping west. When they make fun of Indians protecting cows then yeah its good. When they raise cry over dogs because they love them then yes join with them in their chorus. Humans were a food source in African tribes too. Let's stop judging majority by quoting exceptions.

But most sensible countries in the world do equate a dog's life to their loved ones. There have been countless cases around the world where people have risked their lives to save their pets. With a bond so strong, why shouldn't someone killing my dog not be punished? For the magnitude of the loss, a 4 month punishment sounds like nothing.

But pet dogs are different man, they are like family. Only if you have a pet dog one day will you realize the special bond between humans and dogs, am talking from personal experience.

Cecil the lion: Last picture of king of the jungle killed by American dentist Hwange National Park is a "free roam" zone under Zimbabwean law, which means that hunting isn't allowed in the park and killing Cecil inside of it would have been illegal. When Walter James Palmer, a dentist from Minnesota, went to Zimbabwe in July, he found a way around this law. According to the Zimbabwe Parks & Wildlife Management Authority, two locals are facing charges for assisting in Cecil's killing: a hunter identified as Theo Bronkhorst and a local farmer identified as Honest Trymore Ndlovu. The three of them strapped an animal carcass to a car they parked outside Hwange, on Ndlovu's farm, as bait to draw out Cecil. Once Cecil left the park, it became theoretically legal to shoot him, which Palmer did, with a crossbow. The arrow only wounded the lion. Palmer stalked him for 40 hours, and then shot him again, this time with a rifle. Then Palmer, Bronkhorst, and Ndlovu skinned his corpse and cut off his head. :(( Such brutality. Retard dentist :mad:

It is not that these animals come to the pet owners to become their pets. Once you adapt a pet, the animal is a part of your family and should be treated fairly and with responsibility Also the killing of the lion was brutal and evil as he was lured out of the park. Hopefully the guilty would be severely punished Let's not forget that this planet was designed for everyone. It is not animals fault that humans hv taken over and colonized the planet with animals having no place to go

Obviously all animals deserve fair treatment but dogs are extra special because of the bonds they form with their owners. Sickens me to see them abused. Plus people are ignoring that anyone capable of committing acts of cruelty to animals or dogs are certainly capable of doing so to human beings. The fact she used a muzzle clearly shows she planned it out and knew exactly what she was doing. She's the animal in this case not the dog.

As mentioned by Donal, dogs give us unconditional love and loyalty. They would put their lives at risk to save ours. The day chicken, goat or cows do the same, I will change my views abt them. Really? You keep any animal as a pet, they will not come and bite the owner. You train and teach them, they will mind their own business. Rams are known to be loyal too (See some Indian movies). Watch 'babe' the movie, which shows you can even raise a pig as a pet. The unconditional love is BS. I am a dog lover, I had a dog as a pet, still I don't believe, they can be treated the same as other family members. If you feel bad for dogs being killed or eaten, it's the same way for other animals. Westerners have this thing about laughing at people who have some sacred animals (cows), but when it comes to dogs, they go all emotional. All animals are equal, IMO. They all have a nervous system and feel pain when they are killed. This is like, I can go around protecting my family members because they are loyal and give unconditional love, but go around killing others as they don't do it. What about rams, elephants, parrots, or any animal that can be raised as a pet? Just because, they are close to humans or humans have formed an emotional bond with some, other animals can be killed and eaten brutally? Whales too can be trained, any animal with a nervous system, can see and think and act, can be raised as a pet. It is humans that form the bond. Some animals reciprocate more than others. I eat animals, BTW. But I don't berate people who don't like dogs/cats or some even eat them.

moniker Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 The "bond" between humans and dogs is a result of domestication carried out by humans over the centuries. I'm not sure if a biological bond attained due to evolutionary phenomena is reason enough to put a certain species on a pedestal. Anything required for the sustenance of mankind, like food, culling infected birds and animals and getting rid of pests and rodents to prevent the spread of diseases should be considered as a basic need for survival. Coming to dogs, if they are consumed for food in some parts of the world, I don't have a problem with that provided they are killed using humane and scientific practices. So with other animals consumed for food. Unnecessary cruelty to animals is wrong, be it towards dogs or pigs. Obviously such incidents show sadistic traits, not sure why some have problems with incarcerating such individuals.
