Rather than averages stats if saha can play knocks under pressure like yesterday that would do.Lower order runs are vital abroad .
Yesterday knock wasn't under much pressure as we already had the lead

How much lead we had. If Saha had got out. We would not have got a lead of 192 and might have to chase even bigger target. When Saha came into bat, we were 257, lead of 70. We had got out around 300. We would have to chase 250 odd in 4th innings. For Saha, it was an under pressure innings regardless of the situation to keep his place in the team. Same is with Rohit. Rohit failed. Saha did well.

Given that everyone else (apart from Dhawan) failed, no point in singling just him out. But that was a pretty ordinary shot though.

Fighter lol the first basic criteria is you have to be good enough to fight..not the same as domestic .
So far Rahul also looked ordinary.

And so did Nohit. Saha's tally over 2 innings is higher than 3 of our "batsmen" - Nohit, Rahul and Rahane (who may or may not go past Saha).

well he just does not have the batting temperament and technique needed. As i said earlier in this thread, india have nobody on this tour so should play but its clear he is somebody who is going to average in the 20s in his cricket career. He is a decent keeper so India at the very least should try other options. But you cant play 5 bowlers with Saha.

He has batting temperament and technique as his fc record Proves. He has to step to test cricket as everybody has to do.He has good footwork and decent defense. He is just starting as a full time keeper.

You never build a team if you start dropping players on your whims and fancies.
Am not saying discard him completely but at this point I can't see how he can be picked ahead of VJ or Dhawan . There is no harm in going back to domestic and he can come back as a better bat . Hes only 23 needs to work on the mental aspects . He looks too scared atm

Sahas nowhere close to even Rohit who will score big on flat pitches least.Hes a 32 year old mind you
it was a flat pitch on day 1 when Rohit missed 2 straight deliveries to get out, one of them turned out to be a no ball.

India need to look above the mediocrity of Saha. When you have a domestic cricket which have the best talents in the world,People should expect better from this team. After Dhoni retired from Test Cricket, there were many young promising wicket keepers in the domestic like Sanju Samson,CM Gautam but then why India are playing Saha as the replacement of a World Class player? Is he the best wicketkeeper India have? He has *rarely performed with bat in Test Cricket which hence comes to the thing that he is mediocre and heck he is not even a young player who should be given chances again and again.Naman Ojha is a bit older than him and much better batsmen than him so if India wants an experienced keeper,They should play Ojha not Saha who is well below average

I don't think Gautam or ojha international class they are just par with Saha . Samson's keeping just dosent inspire confidence , at best in LOI,s he can be considered . I would say give DK another shot , may be with MSD not around he will feel less under pressure and play to his potential . The least he's a better batsmen than half our current lineup
