"The hypocrisy that has been shown toward this is really disconcerting. The issue should never be what is the color of the victim. The issue should be: Why was an unarmed teen gunned down in a situation where deadly force was not even justified?"*

vvvslaxman Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 There have been several articles on how blacks are discriminated against. Is there any point of US history where whites were used as slaves. Their outrage is not totally unjustified. If i were a black and if a cop pulled me over i would be terrified even i am at no fault.There is deep rooted hatred against blacks especially down south. Crimes against minorities especially those who were used as slaves not long ago. I understand the point that using race card for everything is not right. But we cannot use these stray incidents against whites as justification for what is going on against blacks.

Lets look at this sample scenario - Number of white people shot in 1970 - 10 Number of black people shot in 1970 - 1000 Number of white people shot in 2015 - 10 Number of black people shot in 2015 - 250 This fits the trend quoted in the article, but does that mean this is the ideal state?

If he seriously thinks race is not an issue and Blacks are not repressed then he needs to get his head checked. After thousands of years of racism and oppression some numbers are shown to highlight hypocrisy? Hypocrisy is not acknowledging that a people oppressed for 100s of year will lag behind in everything and that the privileged people will continue to take advantage of it. Knowing what happened over 100s of years and acknowledging that a country where majority of police, majority of judges, majority of lawyers, etc are make up of white, just might acidently supress the minority is not hypocrisy, it is common sense It is common sense why people become more outraged or support the minority. Because their rights are more likely to be suppressed, accidentally or by design, just because they are less in numbers. It is common sense and not hypocrisy.

Absolutely agree with your analysis. The 75% drop is meaningless unless accompanied by actual numbers. But the point of my post was simply this: Excessive use of force by law enforcement officers is outrageous - regardless of the race of the victim. I am as much outraged by the killing of an unarmed white kid by an officer as I am by the killing of an unarmed black kid by an officer. I am also outraged by the killing of blacks by blacks, whites by blacks, blacks by whites etc. That is not to deny the presence of racism. It is equal outrage against all killings. And for the record, I have stated on this board and shown statistics from the NAACP that racism and racial profiling are prevalent in all of America, and not just the rural South as claimed by others.
