BlueBee Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 I take my words back. He needs to be back at #5
vvvslaxman Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 I take my words back. He needs to be back at #5 They have ruined a solid player. With ball being older he would have been effective.
rkt.india Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 That's what I said before you cant compare batting at 3 and 5. He did well at 5 doesn't mean success at 3 to when there is something for seamers.
Kalia_Test Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 They have ruined a solid player. With ball being older he would have been effective. What older ball? 2 overs between walking at No.3 and walking at No.5 in today's innings :cantstop:
sage Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Pujara should be at 3. Rahane at 5. Rohit at 6. Get rid of this stupid Bunny-face loser
Kalia_Test Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 And some serious misconceptions in this thread. Rahane was asked to go bat at No.3 not because of Rohit. It was because of the 5 bowler theory. If we had the 6 batsmen + WK + 4 bowlers intact, then it would have always been :- Openers Chepu Virat Rahane Rohit WK Bowlers 5 batsmen + WK means one batsman had to be kept out. Team Management decided it had to be Chepu so there was a need for a new No.3 ( and they thought Rahane had the technique for it ). Hope this 5 bowler theory gets thrown out till we find a real good all-rounder.

Er Rohit was promoted to @ 3 in Sydney(Kohli's first test as official captain) ,in Bangladesh and in the first test here .After he was found out to be horribly exposed @ 3 ,instead of bringing back our best no.3 in Pujara , we asked Rahane (our 2nd bat) to move to no.3 so as to accommodate Rohit at 5 . No offense but did u even watch any of the previous test matches before coming up these stuff seriously?

He seems to be exhibiting either technical or mental deficiencies, and I'm not hapy about either. Should be shunted back to 5.

No offense but did u even watch any of the previous test matches before coming up these stuff seriously? When did I ever say Rohit was a natural No.3? I always wanted him in team and play the Laxman/Gilly role as needed. Thats it. And it is possible with 6 batsmen theory where everyone bats in their best positions. None of Rahul,Chepu,Rahane can play the lower-middle order aggressor role - Kohli can but he is valuable at No.4. Dhoni used to do in SC conditions atleast but our newer wicket-keepers cannot do it. I still say ( mentioned in some other thread too IIRC ), go with the below Vijay Dhawan Chepu Kohli Rahane Rohit Saha/Rahul 4 bowlers ( 2 spinners + 2 pacers in SC ; 1 spinner and 3 pacers in non-SC ). Use Vijay and Rohit for a few overs if needed. With the way injuries are happening, chances are one of the batsmen is injured for a particular match anyway. Don't force-fit Bhajji, Ashwin or Binny as the all-rounder. They are not.
Bigg Brother Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Everything was right related to batting order with dhoni except his captaincy. Why that much shuffling and dropping after this?
vvvslaxman Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 What older ball? 2 overs between walking at No.3 and walking at No.5 in today's innings :cantstop: It is a mental adjustment as well.
rkt.india Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 He seems to be exhibiting either technical or mental deficiencies' date=' and I'm not hapy about either. Should be shunted back to 5.[/quote'] Slow front foot movement when ball I pitched up.
Vijy Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Slow front foot movement when ball I pitched up. Like Dravid during latter parts of career (or occasionally in the early and mid parts too)? It seems to me that some of Chepu and Kohli's dismissals during all of our foreign tours were along similar lines as well, but to varying degrees?

His problem was judging the line right. He would miss straight deliveries playing wrong line. Dravid never had footwork issue. This problem with Rahane is old. I thought he had improved it but it is still there.

Dravid always had the issue of playing and nicking deliveries bowled across him .Mainly becoz he won't get his front foot across to cover the angle .

Yes that was from left armers when bowl was bowled very wide, not because he lacked foot movement but because he had developed a habit of playing too far outside off not judging the line.
CG Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Every batsman has problem when the ball is in the corridor of uncertainity. You need a bit of luck like pujara ,kohli had in first innings and what u do after u settled pujara got a century and same with rahane.Rahane does soem times get stuck on backfoot like he did to steven finn in inital odi career. But he has improved a lot.
