Don't think there is any limitation but you'd rather want the youngsters to get match practice than just sit and watch match from dressing room. IMO if Kohli, Rahane are not going to get chance until 3rd test, they should be allowed to play these ranji games, at least they'll have match practice and its not as if we're touring, they can be called up if any injury occurs.
