I don't have any problems with Kohli backing Rohit. It often yields results. My problem is with the best Indian batsman in the last 4 away tours ( Rahane ) having to suffer and bat at no.3 just to incorporate Rohit. Then, Pujara had to open too although Rohit is the one who is used to opening the innings in ODIs. If Rohit has to be backed based on potential while still not performing consistently then he is the one who should adjust and get the batting position that is available. It is this blatant favouritism that bothers me, not the backing of a player who is thought to have potential, whether rightly or wrongly. But, as I said, apart from this issue, all other captaincy decisions by Kohli so far have looked positive and aggressive. It is like a breath of fresh air after a long time in Indian test cricket.

See I am not going to argue with the fact that Pujara should have played ahead of Rohit in 2nd test. It wasn't that he failed but the way he got out twice. However in 3rd test given so many injuries and looking at the pitch I agree with out batting order. Rahane is more skilled than Rohit it's as simple as that.

Rayudu is pretty much a hack even in ODIs, but he's been strangely effective (in a statistical sense) there. However, I'd say that the likes of Vihari, Bawne and Nair are more deserving than him.
