PSB_Zone Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 U can let the touring team choose for the first test but if it looses the advantage goes back to home town.in case of a draw touring team gets the honour for second test
jonas10 Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Here is the fairest option. For instance 4 match test series. First match toss. Next match no toss the loser decides what want to do. The third match winner of first toss and fourth match loser of the toss. Both teams get to decide what they want to do twice. Much better than hypothetically having one team won the toss 4 times! adi B Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Or maybe best of three in the toss might be a fair option
kosingh Posted September 3, 2015 Author Posted September 3, 2015 Or maybe best of three in the toss might be a fair option Why is best of 3 toss better than simply one toss?!!!
kosingh Posted September 3, 2015 Author Posted September 3, 2015 Or maybe best of three in the toss might be a fair option To take that idea further, I suggest having 2 tosses per game, but the home team has to win both in order to choose whether they bat or bowl. If the away team wins only one of the two tosses, they get to choose! This way the away team has 2/3 chance, and home team has 1/3 chance. (OK, this proposition is too nerdy Indian, I admit. Will go over the head of goras)

Then the home team can prepare pitches as per their choice for next 3 Tests ( 2 and 4 they will prepare pitches that suit them and they know what they will do. In 3rd match, prepare a phatta so that opposition gets no advantage). How is it fair?
Kalia_Test Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Doing away with the toss will not do away with the pre-match captains' meet up. The visiting captain will still need to be asked of his decision to bat or bowl first. They can do but there won't be any thrill - They might as well inform umpires and opposition captain in dressing room - something they do if declaration is at Tea or lunch or overnight.

Detonator Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 inky pinky ponky will be a better choice.

You are right! I have been out of school/college too many years!!!!!!!
adi B Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Or maybe tip top (like we used to do in our childhood ) :giggle:
veer Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 I would add.. let visiting team choose first game and then alternate through each game.. that'll make it better.. or else Australia team visiting Zimbabwe will make it worst if you let Australia select it every time. Actually this will affect team combination as well.. both teams can select their teams better.
punjabi_khota Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Toss the first game, and then Just do winners to bat.
kosingh Posted September 3, 2015 Author Posted September 3, 2015 How about the team that wins the toss has to bat!
kosingh Posted September 3, 2015 Author Posted September 3, 2015 Toss the first game' date=' and then Just do winners to bat.[/quote'] Or losers get to choose in the next game. May even things up a bit.
punjabi_khota Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 How about the team that wins the toss has to bat! Do you know the meaning of win ?
Marut Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 So Aussies scared of playing in India? Don't worry you will be thumped regardless of whether you bat first or second here.
rkt.india Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 Just recently there was a county game where bowlers got so much variable bounce that they refused to bowl as it may hurt the batsmen and match was called off. Bar to judge a pitch as dangerous should be lowered. Test matches finishing in 2.5 days on English surfaces isnt helping anyone apart from mediocre bowlers like barbie being seen as Thomson and Marshall And this 2.5 day tests phenomenon is seen with alarming regularity England. Anywhere else in world, games last for over 3 days. Thomson and Marshall also bowled on the same pitches.
rkt.india Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 Sage suggests getting rid of the game suggestion is lame.
