How is Dhoni responsible for this?? What can he do if someone photoshops his image onto some God. This is insane!

A non-bailable warrant has been issued against Mahendra Singh Dhoni in a local court in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh, on Friday (January 8), for a morphed picture of India's limited-overs' captain that appeared on the cover of a magazine in April 2013.The picture which depicted Dhoni as a Hindu deity, headlined 'God of big deals', shows him endorsing a variety of products, including a shoe.

Local Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Shyam Sunder filed the petition after he found the portrayal of Dhoni as the deity hurtful to Hindu sentiments."I had gone to court as the picture hurt Hindu sentiments," Sunder told TV channels in Anantapur. The court has asked the Indian skipper to appear for hearing before February 25, 2016.

Dhoni, who stays in Australia for the limited-overs tour until January 31, will also be leading the side as they host Sri Lanka for a three-T20 series soon after their return.Team India is also scheduled to travel to Bangladesh for Asia Cup T20 before the ICC World Twenty20 in India in March.

Dhoni's management has, however, steered clear of the controversy, maintaining that the Indian skipper never received summons from a local court in Andhra Pradesh that he has been accused of ignoring, insisting that the Non Bailable Warrant issued against the Indian cricket captain was "erroneous".

"Mahendra Singh Dhoni has utmost respect for the judiciary but the fact of the matter is that he has personally never received any summons with respect to the present case; therefore the order appears to be erroneous," Rajneesh Chopra, Dhoni's lawyer, said in a statement issued by Rhiti Sports.

"Even as such, proceedings in a similar matter pending before the Hon'ble District Court of Bengaluru, Kartanaka has already been stayed by the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India. In this matter, accordingly we will approach the courts and seek appropriate directions thereto," he added.

This is something I would have expected in Pakistan. Not a Dhoni fan, but this thing is dumb by this court. Looking for attention

I am no Dhoni fan too but shit like this is just crazy. If they want to go after someone for hurting "religious sentiments" go after the one who created that image not Dhoni.

Is he going to be arrested immediately after his return to India??

What is also interesting is the media has not covered it. I don't think this is a big issue.

Hahaha ... bunch of hypocrites ... the cricket world laughs at you  :giggle:

Exactly who are laughing? Except the delusional and the real comedians from Pakistan.

Your cricket is 365 days of jokes from your LEGENDary captain and other fools. And yeah, you are world champions in providing comic relief through your cricketers.

I'm not that well versed with the law, but this warrant appears to have been issued because apparently Dhoni ignored a court summons regarding this stupid case, not because he's being charged with "hurting religious sentiments", whatever the eff that means.

Now ignoring a court summons is a serious issue. But anyway he seems to be denying receiving any court summons, so we can expect some interesting developments.
