sandeep Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 I remember a sachin lbw in aus where the ball hit helmet was analyzed ,dissected paper n magazine went on and on about it for yearsFind me another instance of an umpire giving a leg before in test cricket where the ball hits batsman's shoulder - it was a freaky dismissal. zen Posted March 4, 2016 Author Posted March 4, 2016 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VYTPs3gMfAQ As long as the ball is hitting the stumps, one can be given out .... More important question is would the ball have hit the stumps tweaker 1
sandeep Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VYTPs3gMfAQ As long as the ball is hitting the stumps, one can be given out .... More important question is would the ball have hit the stumps I bet you today's Hawkeye would show that ball going over the stumps. The ball hit sachin's arm and went downwards, making it appear lower than it was. Regardless, not justifying the whining over that dismissal - because at the end of the day, that's all it was. But it was definitely a freak dismissal. Add to it, IIRC Sachin got a couple of borderline calls go against him in that series in addition to this as well, so that didnt help. Regardless, bigger factor in that series was the total failure of the rest of the batting lineup... tweaker and TheWall 2
zen Posted March 4, 2016 Author Posted March 4, 2016 (edited) https://youtu.be/VYTPs3gMfAQ?t=22s pausing at 0.22, it appears as if it could have hit the stumps. The ball appears to be losing elevation as it is in the process of hitting the batsman. But of course one can always speculate .... I do agree that on some of the other occassions in the series, Sachin was unlucky with LBWs Edited March 4, 2016 by rett

The point I was trying to make was on our victim mentality back then.
