Ahead of his time with innovations - many know of the opening with spin bowling, attacking the bowlers in the 1st 15 - both of these were pioneered by him. He also saw the need for a shorter version of the game and came up with a T20 style CricMax. His analyses of the game were always interesting to read or listen to. Would have been an amazing coach at the highest level if healthy. There have been some great Kiwis who have contributed to our beloved game of cricket - he was one of the stalwarts.RIP. diga 1
