Is Australia as usual peaking at the right time when KO stage approaches?

As I said, if the pitches help Ind great! .... If not, I would still not worry too much about it as at the end of the day good teams try to control what they can control. If they don't they can lose on favorable conditions too, for e.g. Ind vs NZ

My point is why even have the scenario where we get to play on pitches which doesn't suit us best at home? If it was away I would be just fine but at home?! No way!

In tests, I don't mind if home board prepares the tracks that suit the home team .... Because a test is supposed to be a "test" for the visiting team. How visiting teams handle conditions is one of the challenges that they have to overcome

In LOIs, I prefer sporting wkts .... as at the end of the day I rate Cricket > Teams .... Let's not forget that Ind has won more ICC and other marque tourneys such as 1985 World Series outside of Ind. If home teams always did like what you suggested, Ind may not have won so many tourneys away

I would not ask the curator to do anything special. Yes, if he prepares a turning track, it would be nice. Otherwise, no regrets

I guess let's agree to disagree. My point of view as the hosting nation, India has every right to get the pitches which suit them the best similar to what Aussies and Kiwis did in WC 2015 and what B'desh did in the recently held Asia Cup. Every team and home board does so to ensure their team has the best chance to succeed. I want India and BCCI to do the same and there's nothing wrong with that. If turners give us the best chance to win, Indian matches, including the upcoming one against Aus, should be played on turners, and BCCI and state associations should do everything in their power to ensure it happens.

Of course we are entitled to our opinion .... But with such "eye for an eye" arguments, many things can be justified for e.g. people throw garbage near my house so I will do the same to other people's houses. This will only make the community more dirtier .... Leaders think differently and try to educate others

I see India as a leader in cricket esp due to the influence of Ind fans in generating revenues for the game of cricket and BCCI's strong position among the Boards. As a leader, we should not try to emulate what some of the slimy thinkers in BD, SL, Pak, etc. boards do. We are above that level .... Ind fans probably need to grow up too

In LOIs, just as preparing pitches just to suit the home side is debatable practice, so is the tendency to prepare pitches just to hurt the home side. As long as pitches are prepared as per the tradition at the stadium or sporting, it should be ok

rett - Not just ban , pak, SL but "leaders" Aus, Eng, SA prepare pitches for LOI that suit them. India should as well

As leaders, we should look to change that practice esp. in the marque tourneys .... And it should be ok to prepare pitches as per the tradition at the stadium or sporting. Which is why having flat or pitches with turn at many stadiums in India is acceptable .... However, there is no point in preparing a Nagpur (Ind vs NZ) type of wkt .... Even at Kol, the ball was turning like a 4th or 5th day test pitch if I recall correctly

We will be the generous fools, No other country will follow our generous lead with "fairness for sake of the game"

Such thinking is referred to as prisioner's dilemma

I dont want to yield unfair advantage to other host nations. So I dont buy your argument, we dont have to be the only Mahatma Gandhi citizen of World cricket. Curators need to prepare pitches as requested by Team India only

But Ind has actually won more marque events abroad .... and in many of those events, Ind wasn't a favorite

hmm they won by 21 runs v Pakistan. Having watched that game, those 21 runs can be made up by India simply by the fielding. So many times the pak fielders were terrible and allowed Australia to convert 1s into 2s. India are not at their best with the bat in this tournament but the fielding in all three games has been good.  Had pakistan fielded ok in this game it  would have been tight. Highlights pakistan cricket in a nuthell, stuck in the 90s.... this has nothing to do with excuses of no home cricket since 2009. You can make a case for batting and bowling. But fielding is something you dont to play at home to improve.

Our bowling is also better than Pakistan's.

There's a difference in being a good team and being a good team in all conditions. India is the best around on turners and a pretty good one on patta. Aussies on the other hand are outstanding on pattas and quite average on turners. I would rather win the tourney by being good on turners than being very good on pattas and bowing out to Aussies.

a square turner or green mamba usually neutralizes teams even when there is a mismatch.

only when there is a good quality pitch the good gets separated from crap.

you think Nathan mccullum is a better bowler than Ashwin???

You put your best foot forward. Whether you end up winning or not is a different matter. Turners for India matches! :two_thumbs_up:

By turners, if you are referring to Ind vs NZ type of pitches, it is not putting your best foot forward as batting first is also crucial in such games. Besides Ind vs NZ, Ind vs SL ('96) is another example
