asterix
KL Rahul was never discussed to be a Test team WK. At the most he could be a good option in T20 team, in the opening slot in place of Dhawan... He needs to work on his WK skills... tweaker 1 Link to comment
adi B
Kl rahul is not fit to be keeper especially for the longer format.we dont have much options right now, saha will be persisted with tweaker 1 Link to comment

He was watching batsman rather than ball and let it slip past him. Even if he did. We need him as an opener more than a keeper. Can't have that hack Dhawan opening. Ojha and Saha should be our options for foreseeable future while Samson or someone young makes a case for their inclusion. Edited May 3, 2016 by Pagalpanti tweaker 1 Link to comment

Opener role is a different debate..Rahul should get opener slot unfortunately he injured and Dhawan made some runs and stayed in team. Link to comment

His batting might go for dogs if he concentrate on something else which he is not naturally likes ....... We already have good examples of that (Irfan Pathan)..... If he likes it naturally, then it's not an issue but he forcefully taking it up, then it can go either way....which means he might loose his batting skills as well.... This kid can become very good TEST opening batsmen....(in vijay mode)... India has been really bad producing good test opening batsmen.....After gavaskar.....it took nearly few decades before we could find sehwag......and now we can have good batsmen at both the ends (Vijay and Rahul) tweaker 1 Link to comment
Soorma_Bhopali
Naman Ojha kept well . He opens the batting for MP and is a good batsman/wicket-keeper. beetle and tweaker 2 Link to comment
Bigg Brother
KL rahul was never an option as wicket keeper in test..I hope that he will get chance ahead of Dhawan in test matches from now on. For now,I dont think Saha will be replaced soon.Atleast he will get to play home season. Our superstars are failing against spinners so there will be no question asked regarding his batting considering his keeping is good. Ojha had his chance to make the most out of it.Unfortunately he threw away his wicket in both the innings. tweaker 1 Link to comment
gakgupta
Pant is not bad...he played senior bowlers with lots of ease....he made his statement with bat....but dont know about his credentials behind the wickets tweaker 1 Link to comment

Its not a different debate tbh. You cant expect Rahul to keep and open. If he's made to keep, he probably will be moved down the order and I don't see him batting ahead of #6 if that happens. rkt.india
Pant is a proper keeper. He is not just a batsman who can keep. Keeping is his role, kept for Delhi in Ranji trophy and then you wont really find great keeping skills at his age. They will improve with time. tweaker and G_B_ 2 Link to comment
Shoonya
Wonder why Sanju Samson has stopped keeping in FC cricket and even in IPL. Would have been a natural successor to Dhoni across formats. Hopefully he'll be picked for Zim tour and will do well there. Pant needs to play some more FC cricket and A tours before being considered for the national side. tweaker 1 Link to comment

In IPL, DD have 4 Wk and they De Kock is keeping for them. tweaker 1 Link to comment

Did he? This was the last FC match he played in Ranji, in which he captained Kerala but WK was AG Kodoth: http://goo.gl/sJSoQ1 This was the third match of Kerala for last yrs Ranji season, and SS captained and kept, both: http://goo.gl/EUl1X5 So why did he leave keeping the end? Any idea? Think I have. His batting was being affected. In 13 inn, he scored just 208 runs at avr of 16.00 runs Ranji Trophy, 2015/16 - Kerala / Records / Most runs tweaker 1 Link to comment

Chandan
If so, he is an averagean avr batsman too in the longest format, and nothing to write about his keeping skills too. Then whats the hype about?? How are people sure that in 1-2 yrs he'll be ready for test cricket?? tweaker 1 Link to comment

Then whats the hype about?? How are people sure that in 1-2 yrs he'll be ready for test cricket?? At 21, he's better than Dhoni, Karthik, Parthiv, Saha or Ojha at a similar stage. In the chances he's got with the A side (in List A matches), he's done exceptionally well. Needs a run with the A side in FC format too to be ready for tests , till then Saha can warm him place :) tweaker 1 Link to comment
Chandan
And how can you say he is better han MSD, DK etc at the age of 21.5? Dhoni debuted at 22 yrs. And before that he was making waves in FC cricket and A cricket. Nothing of that sort in Samson's case. Has got chance in A cricket too. tweaker 1 Link to comment

Dhoni made his test debut in 2005 at the age of 24 and he was averaging less than what Samson does in FC cricket at that time. Dhoni as a keeper was also below average at that time. Samson played for India A and played match winning knocks in Australia in one day games. Edited May 5, 2016 by rkt.india tweaker 1 Link to comment
Chandan
Dhoni when debuted for India was NEVER a below avr keeper. A very tidy fellow behind the stumps and thats why he could stay. But why are we comparing him to Samson? If you have stats, please present. No speculations, for Gods sake, sscomp32 1 Link to comment
