If Sindhu and Saina win the next round of 16, they'll face tough competition in the QF's. No freebies as expected I suppose.

Saina vs Li Xuerui (ranked 3rd, gold medalist at London)
Sindhu vs Wang Yihan (ranked 2nd, silver medalist at London)

That's pretty stiff competition so both will need to be at their top.

Isn't Lin Dan playing? Also, Lee Chong Wei holds his own.

lin dan is not as good as before. lcw isn't the same player after doping scandal. CL has been dominating this field for a while now and i expect him to win gold

Sindhu on he day can beat anyone , I think against the chinese shes a better bet than Saina . She's inconsistent but tends to play her best in bigger tournaments .

Doubles , Ashwini screwd her career sticking to Jwala for so long . She should have moved on to a younger player by now .

when you push her back, sindhu often goes into a shell. she needs a MSD like mentor on how to perform when you are up against the wall

As you said, ultimately it is Gold for China.

jwala has body language of a loser imo.

And they play like one! In my knowledge, those two have collected zilch in their playing careers so far.

Yeah Srikanth's tournament about to come to an end......Sindhu just doesn't have it to maintain that prolonged consistency....she will let us down soon before the medal rounds.

srikanth looks pretty good. He's got a pretty solid game and did well to qualify to the QFs :hatsoff:

He faces Lin-Dan next :((

Sindhu dominating the game now and looks good to qualify for QFs.  In badminton, India has a few good players ranked in the top 10 in the singles either men or women.

Yeah, that's a tough one but that's how it is going to be in the QFs. You're going to have to face the top 4 or 5 in the QFs as they're spread across the bracket.

Sindhu takes out Yihan. Top class match :hail: Although Sindhu conceded her big lead a couple of times, came back strongly in the end to win the match. Great achievement.
