India the only team to play 6 frontline bowlers?

Maybe with the bowling generally being shitty, you never really know which one of them is going to bowl trash on a given day.. So have a backup :phehe:

Can't give any other reasoning for this... Or maybe Lahori logic that India conceded 245 in a T20 match, so get an additional bowler to cut the flow of runs :bebored:

There are two perfectly logical reasons

West Indies batting is insanely deep and powerful .They have Russel at 7 Bravo 8 and Braithwaite at 9 .

So play more bowlers and more vareity to counter that as picking wickets is the only way to restrict them .

Then another factor is west bowler is pretty poor compared with their batting .We only lost 2 wkts in the Semi and 3 yesterday probably felt bowling depth is more important against a team like WIndies than batting depth.

The problem is with the mediocre level of top tier thinking in players like gavaskar and dhoni...

they want options...but the options only make sense if they are  competitive internationally ...

they have been making this mistake not just once but almost hundreds  times and more.

all one can conclude is these guys will never learn.

you have problem understanding one basic aspect of cricket...its the top 4 bowler which defines everything.

other bowlers make no difference to overall level.

Yeh 6 Binny k ilawa hain or he too included in those 'frontline' bowlers?

binny dropped for Mishra who played as a 6th bowler.

In ODIs and T20s....there is a limitation on the number of overs one can bowl.

10 overs out of 50 in ODIs and  4  overs out of 20 in T20s.

Atleast 5 bowlers become mandatory for that purpose.

It is childish to assume that only 4 bowlers would do in  ODIs and T20s.

The problem is reduction of the number of batsmen if  5 specialist bowlers are selected....which is why good all-rounders are needed for the 5th bowler's slot.

A really low quality 5th bowler or bowlers often lose a limited overs match as he or they  have to be bowled the full quota by law.

6 specialist bowlers is again too much as the number of batsmen get seriously reduced.

No he isn't .

As the above post mentioned the 5th bowler makes a significant difference to the attack .

only if your first 4 bowlers are good and bowl well.  Here we are talking about playing not just 5th but 6th bowler. The theory he  is talking about suites more to  test cricket.

That's just ur assumption and a stupid one at that .

you are the stupid ignoramus here..where did you get the highly stupid idea that extra bowlers necessarily mean extra strength?

how can an inferior bowler mean extra strength? is there any logic here????

I only speak from solid experience.dont even try

he is right.

1/5 th of the total quota of overs by bits and pieces bowlers don't work in modern LOIs.

There was a time in the '80s and '90s when these bowlers could be hidden in the middle overs when batsmen did not try to score that many and did not have the modern bats to score runs without taking too many risks.

Batters these days can afford to go for big shots even in the middle overs with the super bats they have.

The only answer is a couple of good all-rounders in LOIs.
