We could play both Pandya bros together instead, but I need to see them get some international batting practice first. Overall, our side is pretty settled, and we don't need to change much, but it's hard to select two players to fit into the 6/7 slots. Lack of lower-middle order power-hitters / all-rounders does not make our team settled. Teams have batsmen with SR of 110 to 125 as their power hitters these days. This is our biggest problem. We need players in the mould of the Pandya brothers for these slots but they are not ready for ODIs yet. We have not really caught up with the high SR modern ODIs these days and have performed poorly in the last 32 months or thereabouts. We may require a 3rd seamer in England too in place of Jadeja. tweaker and Mosher 2
sandeep Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 Hardik Pandya should play in the next away ODI tour unless he is injured or completely loses the plot. We need to use these non tournament ODIs as NFL teams use pre-season games. I think his batting is too slog-happy and maybe exposed against better teams, but if he can step up, then we have the perfect guy for #6/7 spot who can give you 5+ overs as well. tweaker 1

Pandey is not a lower order slogger per se ( would be better at no. 4 or no. 5 ) and Jadeja has a SR of only 84 in ODIs. Edited September 16, 2016 by express bowling jalebi_bhai and tweaker 2
renjith Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 Unlike many people think pandya has a decent defence. He has already played some tight innings in Ranji trophy. express bowling 1

More than that , Pandya's innings of 47 against South Africa in a BP XI game on a challenging track and his 79 against Australia A on a seaming track...shows his ability to survive against good attacks / on tough pitches. GautiMaan Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 Manish seems like a perfect fit for us,It is a shame that we are not playing ODI's for a long time he could have cemented his place Miles better than Rayudu or Rahane. tweaker 1
