ShebbySB Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 I'd prefer a dynamic team consisting of stroke makers, hitters, wicket taking spinners, strike bowlers with pace and a squad excellent in the field.I also think Kohli should be the captain and MSD should retire with all due respect and what he has achieved so far.He has lost his mojo. This is my squad:- Dhawan,Rohit,Kohli(c),Pandey,Rahul(wk),Raina,Ashwin,Hardik,Jadeja,Shami,Bumrah. Reserves:-Agarwal,Kedar(wk),Kuldeep,BK,Nathu. Akshar can come in if any spin bowling spot opens up.Picked Nathu on the basis of potential over Dhawal Kulkarni. I'd like to restrict Rahane,Umesh and Aaron for tests, picked young Kuldeep ahead of Mishra. Picked Raina as an experienced finisher in absence of MSD. His fielding and bowling are bonus. tweaker 1

Raina bowling a bonus - dnt rem the last time he bowled much, since when part timer's bowling became a bonus. I could understand that in case of someone like yuvraj singh of old. As a batsman his 1st job is to make runs and raina is sure shot failure agianst teams with good fast. bowlers Did u see Rahul's keeping in ipl in 20 overs, do we have waqar , wasim , saqlain who still excelled despite pakistan dropping many catches. I find it funny we take Wk so lightly. One drop catch can make u suffer, n imagine if Rahul drops someone like warner abdv what kind of bashing he 'll face or a crucial stumping . the guys is establishing himself as batsman in Int cricket and the idea of burdening him with keeping so rubbish. Wk is no easy job specially in tight games under pressure. Add to that Making Rahul bat at 5, means he ll get few opp to make runs so most of the time he wont have gr8 avg. Playing with Raina n jadeja means automatically playing with 2 less batsman. At the top u have dhawan the inconsistent one and the there is hardik whose style of game would never allow him to to be reliable. Then Pandey n Rahul are in 1st years of Int cricket and with time they ll also see ups n down. So basically we only have kohli n rohit. What is lost his mojo- has he lost his fitness- NO, Has he lost the Power to hit the ball- NO, so a lil drop in form that everyone faces means he has lost hi Mojo. Why coz he is at the wrong side of the age of he is the captain so he needs to be under scrutiny. Hasnt Raina n Dhawan lost their so called MOJO.......... Wow this team is a recipe for disastor............ Ideal Odi team for us should be - Top 3- Kl rahul, Rohit n Kohli- Becoz the rule in ODi is clear your best batsman should face MAx no of balls, no point in hiding them Middle- Pandey, Dhoni - An out of form dhoni would still be better than Dhawan n Raina..... No 6 n 7- At 6 where we need to find a batsman who can hit the ball, and ball few overs. Someone like Yuvraj singh would have been ideal but he is past so other options like Deepak hooda, krunal should be considered in future. OR else i would love to have sarfraz in future but he doesnt bowl so pandya can't play . We cant Rely on Pandya to give us 10 overs now, he needs few yrs. So if we have to play Pandya at 7 we need another batsman who could ball a few regularly. OR else stick to jadeja Bowlers- ashwin, Shami, bumrah, Bhuvi/sran. Backup bowlers- Rajpoot, kuldeep. Nathu bowls a lot of no balls which is crime in LOI and is a wayward as well so ill prefer Rajpoot and Sanghwan soon may be. Backup batsman- Dhawan (opener on patta), Rahane (must in trying conditions as opener) Raina Deserves a hugeeeeee Kickkkkkkkkkkk Mishra is a liability......bye bye to him tooooooo Edited September 13, 2016 by Ankit_sharma03 tweaker 1

ODi is a 300 ball game n who ever score most runs in those balls wins the game. So every crucial aspects comes into play fielding bowling lower order batting. Likewise it very important to utilize those 300 balls to fullest. Problem With dhawan n rahane both is they start slow and more often then not they throw wkts from 30-60 runs at run a ball or less. I dnt see any point of those innings. Sehwag 30-60 had more impact coz their S/R as Power play is meant to be used to the fullest. Rohit is also a slow starter but he once set he doesnt throw it away, similary kohli starts with a boundary here and there n most of his start is about single doubles but again once set will not throw it n make it big. Why are these two so successful in ODi becoz they have the opp to bat up. So was the case with sachin, n yuvi career changed once he got to bat up. The rule is simple its 300 balls so give ur best batsman most number of balls. Becoz in the end they ll take 10 balls only to take their S/R to a diff level. Talking about Rahul individually- Rahul is someone who can use powerplay to the fullest. He is someone who can give rohit a breathing as Rohit is a slow starter and dhawan n rahane at other end could only add pressure to him. Rahul is also someone once set wont throw it away, even if he gets out which anyone can more often than not he ll provide a gud start. From 5,6,7 the role of batsman completely changes so it would be unfair to keep at 5. He can be another pillar like rohit n kohli only if get Most number of balls. Ganguly always says best place to bat in Odi is top 3. Among 3 if anyone bats throught they ll get a gud score for team and all are consistent. Rahane n dhawan well 1st they aint consistent then they throw starts a lot of time and also they are a lil slow as well. Rahul doesnt need to bat low, if he is set he can bat till end or even if he bats till 35-40 overs he would have done enough destruction. ANy day ill take his power for 30-40 overs than 10-15. Simple maths... Pushing one of ur best batsman below to long the batting is a defensive move as we are reducing his impact by giving him less balls. We tried pushing sachin n kohli down to pro long the batting instead we lost their impact. Long batting lineup doesnt mean effective. even i have always maintained had Dhoni batted a lil up for past few yrs we would have won more games, again someone when set would more often than not make it count. Position of 6 is a problem but we need to find someone rather than sacrifice someone. I wont dump Rahane i know we ll need him tough conditions but agian chances of rohit struggling in tough conditions are very high and rahane would come into play. Rahul should be on top in all format all conditions specially if we are seeing him at test opener he should be able to play in all conditions as opener. We have Kohli. Rohit and Pandey at the top to maximize the impact in the first 30 overs. If Rahul bats at the top too then name one good lower-middle order batsman in our team ? We need a batsman who can come in and bat from over 30 to over 50 and utilize them to the fullest in case we lose some quick wickets upfront. Till the time we find a good lower order batsman....Rahul has to be so utilized for the sake of the team. I would send in Rahul after the 27th over...whenever a wicket falls...no matter what that batting position is. Bleed-Blue 1

There's also an added advantage that we can utilize him as a 6th bowling option. I'd rather try a proven champion like him over someone like Jadhav who's also in the wrong side of 30s. He can be our temporary solution until we find a solid power hitter down the order. Mayank deserves a chance, more so than a hack like Dhawan. Just to remind you, the next two ICC tournaments are in England and Dhawan is not a solution for the opening slot. Bigg Brother 1
Silva Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 Imo rohit, pandey, rahul, kohli should bat in ODIS and t20. Dhawan should be an ODI specialist. Not sure what the point of Rahane is in limited overs when youve already got these 5 that play can play long innings plus dhoni as well. having lk rahul In T20 gives the option to swap out Dhawan with an out an out hitter like Sarfaraz khan, or nitish rana who looks like a very good ball striker.

I would send in Rahul after the 27th over...whenever a wicket falls...no matter what that batting position is. we dont even have 2nd good opener, only if ur batsman score more runs then ull be consistent. So we know if Rahane n rahul plays opens and faces equal no of balls who'll score more. We have 2 batsman who score big now if Rahul pandey could do so we ll have 4 consistent player who r match winners. Every day everyone wont work but thats y there are but if one of them bat throught ur chances of winning are high but incase of rahane he doesnt even bat out. Dhoni should be at coz now he also should play low as it doesnt suit his game, playing rahul at 5 means pushing dhoni at 6 which is not working for a while. Raina still can do decent at 6 as more often than not u have to score 30-40 there but the idea of making him bat up was a disastor. For me its simple ur best batsman shud face max no of balls coz if they are set they ll win u games, at lower order ur basically wasting them most times even when they are set coz max they ll score 30-50. IF we dont have player we ll have to find them before Wc. N forget lower order our 2nd opener is under huge question mark, powerplays are wasted. Go to Sa, Nz our other opener Rohit would also be a walking wkt. That guys needs to take that role becoz he is an all condition player. IF we dnt have lower order player we should find a few rather wasting powerplays, start thrown by dhawan n rahane, Struggling Rohit in helpful conditions at top. This is the ideal time to try a few new players at 6, we just need to identify a few n back them rather wasting a potential match winner player at top by giving him 30-40 balls . u can only score 40-60 runs at bottom but at top someone like him with todays batting skill can score more than 150 a lot of times. Yes we wont make a consistent team but that will never happen unless we have consistent match winner at all position. Rather sending him after 27, ill have him open so give me that quick 40-50 1st in powerplay which he can very and then he also has a chance to make it big.

Can come in early enough when wickets are lost, and his six hitting ability at the spot is something we lacked at the last world cup. 5 Dhoni- Needs more time to get in, can still hit 6s after he is set. Can help anchor an innings with his running ability. 6 * 7 * 8 Jadeja 9 Ashwin 10 Shami 11 Bumrah To me, the 6 and 7 spots are the ones that are in question. Ideally we would have a batting allrounder and a bowling allrounder here. But we also need some instant boundary hitting ability for a finisher. It may also be worth playing a pure batsman at 6/bowler at 7, although we would have a long tail. Here are the options in my opinion: Rahane: Positive: Consistent performer for RR and RPSG. Elite fielder. Elite catcher. Made to bat in difficult conditions. Great teammate. Runs hard for singles and doubles. Has a good ODI average of over 40 in England which could be good for the next two tournaments. Negative: Can't accelerate to the extent as other batsmen, so can be a liability when target is very high or on a flat pitch when we need to set a huge target. Can't serve as an anchor due to limited acceleration ability. Would have to shift entire lineup to fit him in the team, as he is only usuable as an opener. Raina: Positive: can chip in a few overs, great teammate and fielder. Instant boundary hitting ability, good chaser, and great running. Negative: has been out of form for a while, even in IPL. If he has to come in early with a loss of wickets, then he hasn't shown ability to play through an innings Pandey: Positive: Showed good ability to chase. Played well in his chances given, and he is young enough to improve significantly with a consistent run. Has shown ability to play through an innings for KKR. Negative: Strike rate doesn't suit batting at the bottom of the order. Suryakumar/Rana/Sarfraz/Hooda: Positive: Seem to be able to hit from the first ball and can play unorthodox shots. Negative: None have played a long innings. May be IPL bullies. Sarfraz is a bad fielder. Hooda didn't impress this last IPL. Ohja/Saha: Positive: can serve as keepers and let Dhoni play as a pure batsman, which should increase his batting even more. Both have played blinders at times for their IPL teams. Could allow us to play an extra batsman. Negative: Neither has major international ODI experience. Can only play as keepers. Karthik: Positive: can serve as keeper. Could help play another batsman. Has the ability to bat long innings in tougher conditions. Fit team well at CT2013. Can accelerate very well. Negative: Gets run out a lot. Has mental lapses and gets out at 30s, 40s often, so only worth playing as keeper down the order. Takes a bit of time to get set. Yusuf: Positive: decent spin option. Has one of the best strike rates in the IPL usually. International experience. Negative: We've tried him before, and he doesn't inspire much confidence from his past international performances. Pandya bros: Positive: Hardik is a great fielder. Both show good boundary hitting. Both are bowling allrounders. They are also young enough to improve with experience. We probably need an extra pacer for English condition, so Hardik could be the allrounder. Negative: Hardik didn't look good batting the last IPL or at the WT20(although he didn't get much opportunity). Krunal may also follow suit and I am not sure he is a good enough spinner. Umesh: Positive: Pace and swing can be useful for the CT and WC in England. Took a good amount of wickets at both the CT2013 and WC2015. Regularly amongst the wickets in the IPL, usually tops amongst our pacier bowlers. Good outfielder. Negative: Can backfire playing him if he loses control of his line. Doesn't have a consistent yorker. Mohit: Positive: great variations, particularly slower balls, and has a good yorker. Nice range of pace he can bowl in. Consistent over the IPL the last few seasons. Negative: I've noticed that if someone picks his slower ball, he gets taken apart. Bhuvi: Positive: has the ball on a string. Increased his pace and has a good yorker. Deadly with new ball. Good IPL. Consistently took wickets with the new ball at CT2013. Negative: Ineffective in the middle overs. Doesn't always get yorkers right at the death. Not a big time wicket taker. Sran: Positive: Leftie. Aggressive bowler. Negative: Not the quickest. Hasn't had any memorable match-winning performances. Rajpoot: Positive: Good debut season for KKR. Nice pace and bounce. Negative: May need a few more seasons. Needs a good yorker. Kuldeep: Positive: Unique bowler. Played well for KKR when given chance. May be more suited to limited overs where opponents must play his variations. Negative: Needs to lose weight to become a better, more agile fielder. Mishra: Positive: as talented as any legspinner. Proven effectiveness in limited overs. Wicket taker. Can bat. Negative: Bad fielder. Mental midget when attacked. Chawla: Positive: Consistent for KKR. Prior international experience. Can bat. Negative: Fielding is poor. Never looked great in internationals. Chahal: Positive: Big wicket taker for RCB. Gives a lot of effort fielding. Able to bowl in pressure. Negative: Useless with bat. Not a big turner of the ball. I think that the CT2017 and WC2019 will have similar pitches to each other. If either is similar to CT2013 pitches then we have an easier decision to make. It is probably better to choose our potential WC2019 team right now and try them at CT2017, so we can get the youngsters experience and can drop those who we find out didn't belong at CT2017. For CT2017 I want to pick Pandey and Bhuvi, but that is a really long tail, and I am not sure Pandey fits at 6, so Dhoni would have to once again play 6. We could play both Pandya bros together instead, but I need to see them get some international batting practice first. Overall, our side is pretty settled, and we don't need to change much, but it's hard to select two players to fit into the 6/7 slots.
