Lets not tamper with the purest format of test cricket. With due around bowlers will be in distinct disadvantage in night test games. According to me test matches should remain as it is and must be played in day time with red balls.

ODIs should be played with white balls and pink ball should be used for T20 matches.

Thoughts?

If left untouched test cricket will be dead in next 10-15yrs. No one has the time to follow a game which even after 5 days may not produce result. Tell me when was the last time you watched (not followed but watched) an entire test ? In the coming years Test cricket wont be viable financially. So for test cricket to survive first it has to be cut down to 4 day (ideally 3 so that games can start friday night and end sunday night), night cricket is a must, sporting tracks which produce results, dont care what color ball they use but test cricket survival now depends on innovations.

Games has to adopt for the changing times....I am sure, it has changed over the period of time....from 1800's to 1900's

hard to think test cricket surviving in future even if its played as day/night matches. sad but its the truth.

The purpose of using the pink ball is to allow test matches to be played partly during evening, this should improve viewership both on TV as well as on the ground.  

 

We saw lots of fans coming to the ground in the evening even during Duleep Trophy games.

 

Without viewers no game can survive.

 

More such steps should be taken to improve viewer interest in test cricket.

Shouldn't be used  in UAE. Seems to have taken reverse swing out of the equation. Not sure if its the ball or the weather conditions that have caused this. Pitches are dead anyways and the absence of reverse swing would make it more dull. 
But in other places, I'm all for it.

Why should we need pink ball for T20 cricket ?

Pink ball isn't being used in test cricket for some gimmick purpose as u seem to think .

The reason for using pink ball in test cricket is because red ball color doesn't last 80 overs and hard to sight as well.

Without pink coloured ball test cricket can't be played in night .

Needs to be seen if the d/n test has an impact in TV viewership cause the people at the stadium remained abysmal.

 

For test cricket to survive it needs TV viewership jump.

In Dubai, where the locals have never watched test cricket....we were getting lots of people in the stadium even when Duleep trophy was being played with the pink ball.
