I would like Pant open the innings. Rahul can bat at 4 and is good enough to do that like he did against WI in T20s and ODIs.

Dhoni has said that he will bat at No.4 as it suits him better. That means Rahul at No.5...which I feel is too low for him.

 

Also, it is better to let Pant get acclimatized to international pace while batting at No.5.

 

He can open after a year if he shapes up well.

I am talking about T20s. For ODIs, Dhawan is still pretty good. Dhoni is useless in T20s whether he  bats 4 or 5.

But he will play as the captain.

 

Both Rohit and Dhawan are good in ODIs but none of the 2 are explosive starters.  We  often end up performing below par by today's  ODI standards in the first 7 to 10 overs.

With Rohit injured Dhawan vs Rahul debate of opening might end this Odi series as they both wud open and have chance

The only problem that might force the team to bat rahul in middle is failure of Pandey. If pandey fails and dhawan score rahul wud go to middle order.

Whats good for the team is we have someone who uses powerplay as rohit, dhawan takes their own time. But a batsman in middle order is also needed. So its really important that Manish pandey comes good and also deepak hooda whenever he gets a chance.

for that Rahane will have to sit out or will pandey be dropped. Though I dont see Jadhav getting another game. He only played against NZ because Rahul was injured. You wont play him just because he can bowl part time.

I  got the feeling that the team was trying to groom Jadhav as the No.6.  Until we take guys like Pant, Hooda etc....he is our finisher.

 

Rahane should be dropped.

Why would rahane play after such poor series. Dhoni wont go without 6th bowler as he has talked about the importance of it so many times

And i dnt see jadhav getting dropped.

Infact m pretty certain just to have that batsman who can bowl part times- raina, hooda and yuvraj (1,2 among them would surely be selected)

Jadhav hasnt done to bad either to be dropped to. If we have to play pandya as 5th bowler we need that 6th bowler from somewere. 

Jadhav, raina, hooda, yuvraj .....someone would definitely play

Either One of hooda or yuvraj would get selected this Odi series, specially since kumble asked yuvraj to also report to NCA with gambhir. 

Depending how their remaining matches go one of them would most certainely get selected

Yuvraj would be a step backward like the Gambhir experiment.

 

Don't think he retains the reflexes to hit genuine pace ...like he did between 2000 and 2011.

With an eye to the future and based on current form and in an attempt to include new-age big hitters...I feel Hooda is our best bet as big-hitter/ part-time spinner.

True, m not in favour it but then cant be certain about his failure to . But we know he would make that last come back specially now that he has piled on runs in domestic. 

Deepak hooda should ask his team to give him more bowling so he can add wkts to his tally and increase his chance . I dnt knw why he has started to bowl so less.

Yusuf Pathan-Needs to be in every T20I line up we field for the next few years at least

The Australian fast bowling talent-Pattinson and Cummins etc etc-I beleive they are always injured.....they will only get match fit by actually playing a lot more games...I think Aussies have been over-cautious with them in playing them in ODI's and T20I's....play them in some meaningless bilaterals too

Ishant Sharma in LOI's- The guy has a gun average and strike rate in LOI's.....right now will find it tough to break in but should be played as a back up seasoned bowler...Right now are Top 3 ODI bowlers are Shami,Umesh,Bhuvi with Pandya being the back up and then it is sad to see Dhawal etc in the next category..Sran is fine though....no way......Ishant over all these backup options 9/10 times.

Adam Milne-Why is he not playing a lot lot more?

Ravi Bopara-Pure Class...why isn't he playing a lot more too....I think he will fix the England middle order crisis

We need to bring in Hooda and Pant.

We need to groom Hardik Pandya as a finisher at 6 and not Jadhav. We cannot have him bat in last 5. Purpose is lost if you do not play him in top 6 or at least 7. This way, we can play 3 semears and 3 spinners in India, Pandya being the third seamer and could include both Axar and Jaddu or someone like Krunal Pandya as 3rd spinner in the future.

 

I would like this team for T20s played in India in the future.
