The solution to this is the ability to selectively query the stats of more competitive FC games and play more Duleep Trophy games. Choose among those who have done well  consistently on A team matches, Duleep Trophy games, matches against touring sides and knock-out matches of the Ranji Trophy.

 

When you see seamers like Vinay Kumar, Joginder Sharma and Rishi Dhawan having fantastic bowling stats in FC....they lose some value just by themselves.

Very true. And when people see the so-so records of Quadri they may think that the bowler is poor; even Jayant's stats were not "great" but he's done extremely well thus far.

That or organize more A tour games, which is about the same thing. We tend to wait for big countries like Australia and South Africa etc to play against their A side when we can organize even against A sides of Sri Lanka, New Zealand or English lions which will be more easy to organize.

Absolutely.

 

More A team games would be very helpful.

 

Why I want more Duleep Trophy games is because , if there are 5 teams, 55 to 70 players would get chances to hone their skills against tougher opponents.

Well I think SaHA is okayed as keeper, he is not sloppy like Parthiv but only his last test he looks so sloppy because he was not fit for 5 day game.

 

Even new selector V.prasad wants him back in the team as soon as he recover on fitness issue,VK wants to keep PP as batsman in the team,as opening slot kind of shaky for india.

parthiv was never good for Gloves job but india needs him because he is Left hand opener and in good nick,415 runs in 5 ranji trophy with 18 dismissal and @century.i wish good luck to both yet special message to R.Pant for selection luck for t20 vs England in 2017, india will play 3/3 odi /t20 vs England,BCCI says RISHIBH is too young for keeper job for test.

It has also been learnt that the chances of Saha returning to the squad for the fifth Test also look bleak as he is unlikely to be fit for Bengal’s next Ranji match against Madhya Pradesh starting on December 7.
As far Rahul, though the team-management protocol requires players returning from injury to play a first-class match to prove fitness, he seems to have been made an exception as it was only a minor injury.
With Rahul certain to open with Murali Vijay at the top, Patel will be moved down the order meaning Karun Nair is likely to be benched after making debut at Mohali.

Saha has been good, but with the rise od Pant and if he ends up doing good in coming games and Parthiv ends up winning the Ranji for Gujarat, it will be hard for Kohli to play Saha as the keeper of the test side. Saha did all right. He wasn't too bad in last year. Saved us some games too here and there with few gritty knocks, but I think the time has come to play Pant ahead of him against Bangladesh so we can see what he got to offer.

Comfortably outperformed by Parthiv in the England series + Pant knocking on the door very hard. 

Can't have a passenger in the team if we want to remain #1 for a while

Parthiv had a horrible series behind gloves missed 12 chances .Pant glove work still has to be seen.In test cricket you pick it best keeper first and saha had a great year and helped saved first test vs eng.So he is still.no 1 in tests.

Also in case Pant fails as keeper we can even use him as pure bat and still look to try other keepers as Ishan Kishan etc. Though I doubt Kishan will be better than Pant.

 

It is tough on Saha who still probably is the best keeper, but if Pant can do a better job with the bat and also keeping, then he gets the nod.

 

I mean it is not that Saha has been excellent behind the stunps of late. He has been good but not great. He dropped some too.

I dont want Parthiv to keep for India again.That was horrible behind the stumps.

 

We should bring Pant in for Bangladesh/Aus tests if not just stick with Saha

Interestingly Saha has a test Ton outside Asia already . But atg dhoni has none . 

 

Yet after a few dodgy games all saying dump Saha with immediate effect . 

 

Why did we have dhoni for so long ?
