How did Ajantha Mendis disappear ?

He had just facet too many variations. He got wickets at first because no one can read him. But with spin bowling you have to be patient and out fox bastman. Ajanta mendis just variations once you see all his variations you could score runs.

he didnt realise what ravi ashwin did later in his game - keep bowling the stock ball and use the variation very sparingly, when you feel the batsman is taking the direction of the turn for granted.

once warne said that the leg break alone is good enough to take bucketloads of wickets and he doesnt need any variations. infact the variations he said should be wrt the amount of spin, turn, flight and speed of the legbreak itself.

when commentators say that wasim akram can bowl 6 different deliveries in a single over, they dont mean wasim actually does it in every over of a test match. they mean, he has the ability, not stupid enough to keep bowling something different for every damn ball.

In the current gen, there are lot of batsmen that haven't faced him. So, variety and the element of surprise still exists

It was all about his tricks and soon it was caught. Then he got blasted everywhere- He was taken for cleaners in IPL and CL to.

I remember in one champions league or IPL game dinesh karthik hit him for 3 six while reverse sweeping

his greatest achievement is the 6'fer versus India in the Asia Cup final upset win. he was almost unplayable then. our players as usual over-acted a bit too much and behaved like he was doing some sort of sorcery. I think it is Pakistani batsmen who first started to disrespect him and kept smashing him.

he had lost his effectiveness after a finger injury and had to go through the surgery. Finger is the most important thing for a fingers spinner.

He still has a stellar ODI and T20 record and we do not have a singe bowler who comes close to his stats, averages 21 in ODIs and 14 in T20s.

Some of these records came against minnows, but even excluding that, his record is superior to any ODI/T20 bowler we had perhaps.
