Take Rahul's example - he threw his wicket away on debut, but scored a 100 in the second dig. Well, Rahul has been regularly throwing it away over the past 5-6 innings. Most of the KKN batsmen know how to play the flashy shots and thrive in T20s (and List A), but I don't rate them so highly as Test bats.
express bowling Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 (edited) The No.5 slot will be a weak area for us in the next test. Karun failed in every innings in Australia on the A tour....came back and scored century in Ranji...that means he is not out of form....then he has looked out of sorts today in a test match. I would open with Pappu and Vijay and bat Rahul at no.6 to make our middle order more solid. Pappu has looked better against pace and Rahul, with his casual shots but good ability, will be safer at No.6 with less men in catching positions. Edited December 10, 2016 by express bowling

Maybe Rahul can bat at 5, Ashwin at 6, and Nair at 7.

WC2011INDIA Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 Ideally, in the next test match the line-up should be 1. Pappu 2. Vijay 3. Pujara 4. Kohli 5. Pandey/Nair 6. KL 7. Ashwin 8. Jadeja 9. Jayant 10. Shami/Shardkul/Bhuvi 11. Umesh express bowling 1

SUMO Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 we need to back rahul and rahane ... supremely talented hardworking guys and performed overseas no substitute for quality . karun has to wait or hope rahane remains injured/ kohli plays 4 bowlers

Just cutting out the loose and casual shots will do. Poking outside the off-stump needs to go too. He has the ability to play both pace, bounce and spin and is a stroke-player too. Such batsmen are not easy to find.
G_B_ Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 I do think many depending, we can open with Vijay and Pappu second innings and allow Rahul to come in at 6. I dont see any technical flaw with Rahul atm. Its just that he seems to want to dominate and he is not in that good a touch. sandeep 1
cowboysfan Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 TBH i have never rated him for international cricket,he deserved his shot as the next man up but i am not sure he will be selected for the aussie series,he needs a big score in Chennai. tweaker 1
