Sidhoni Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 Gavaskar Viru Dravid Sachin VVS Dhoni (C)(WK) Kapil Ashwin Kumble Zaheer Srinath/Shami or Jadeja/Bedi (depending on conditions)
express bowling Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 (edited) INDIA - Test Team I am against filling these best XI s with just retired players. Current players from India, as well as those who have played from 1996 onward, have or had much more will to win test matches and I would choose such players mainly. Choosing the best 11 players does not always constitute the best team from the point of view of winning matches regularly. Gavaskar Sehwag Dravid Tendulkar Kohli Dhoni Ashwin Kapil Kumble Srinath Shami PAKISTAN - Test Team From the point of view of winning...the Pakistani players of the late '80s and early '90s were their best. BeautifulGame Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 Our team will depend on which conditions we are playing .If in India or Pakistan (a spinning track) then our bowling attack has to be different than in English conditions or even Aussie bouncy wickets . In India I would have Sehwag Gavaskar Dravid Sachin VVS Dhoni Kapil Ashwin Kumble Chandrasekhar Srinath But if we are playing on a neutral English or Aussie venue with help for fast bowlers, then I would replace Chandrasekhar/Kumble with Zaheer .

Zaheer was comparatively better bowler in SC than overseas.....also Kapil never had reverse swing and Srinath only started to get a hang of it towards the end.,I would in fact put him above Srinath in the pecking order and play Srinath in overseas conditions for his pace.

Never seen any Indian bowler bowl yorkers like Bumrah....which is a massive asset in ODIs. I want the best team and not the most famous players. Agarkar if anything is overrated in Odis .Great stats did pretty decently in bilateral Odis but when under pressure always chocked .

This is what happens, when you just figure out how to use stats guru....Zak forced a lot of results on placid tracks with reverse swing....to left handers and in the opening spell he was good...taking nothing away from Srinath, when he was in Rhythm he would get a cluster of wickets......but only when in rhytym...with Zak at his prime you got the feeling,he would make something happen and he played in the era of much flatter pitches than Srinath did. I personally prefer all 3 with Ashwin and Kumble .

I personally prefer all 3 with Ashwin and Kumble . Even Srinath played mostly on turning tracks though not any help for seamers . Thing with Zak was his peak in Indian conditions in particular was pretty short .He was really good for atmost 3-4 years between 07-11 and we played more away at that time than at home . I may be wrong but at home I always felt Ishant outbowled Zak even during that period .

If anything, Azhar not knowing how to set fields for the bounce and pace of Srinath has made his stats look poorer than his ability. When did we have non-flat pitches from a seamer's perspective in India ? By and large, both played on similar pitches. Edited December 28, 2016 by express bowling Rightarmfast 1

My favorite Srinath moment like you described would be Srinath getting Hudson and Kirsten of first two balls in the innings and making it 0 for 2 for South Africa Rightarmfast 1
