Also India is in Asia,Earth revolves around the sun ,Lil' wayne is black,Superman doesn't exist in real life and Katrina Kaif is hot...any other obvious insights :cantstop:

Yeah.  Ben Duckett sux.  Rohit Sharma is a horribly slow starter in ODIs.  And Hardik Pandya is a better white-ball bowler than Ben Stokes - as I called it last year.  But I notice you ran away from that thread, and your labels of Pandya as a limited player who won't win matches for India.

Good to win the series. But Thank you England.  They have been brilliant with the bat.  They could have easily won both games with a bit more luck.  And have shown the way to the future.  Our conservative think-tank could learn a thing or two from their batting approach.

Timely injury to Hales for Billings.  Harsh on Hales, but it makes England a bit better for the rest of the tour.   England keep effing up selection on the test as well as LOI legs of the tour.

They need to play their best wicket-taking bowlers in LOI.  And its not enough to have Moeen bhai's part-time spin offerings paired up with a bunch of similar pacers.   If they didn't bring any other wicket taking spinner apart from Rashid - since Dawson is considered a 'restricting' bowler a la Ali - then just play him.  Jake Ball and Plunkett gave up 80 and 90 runs each last game - a 2/85 by Rashid would have won England that game.

Not sure the England selectors could have at all justified dropping Hales though to be fair, he hit the highest ODI score in the countries history just 3 games previously in this format and averaged 61.91 @ 101.36 in the previous 12 months.

Expect Vince may be the replacement for the T20 squad (unless they just go with Bairstow given whoever it is is unlikely to play), but Duckett didn't do a bad job in the ODIs in Bangladesh with 2 50s in 3 games.

My post was not meant to bash Hales - just that Billings should have found his way into the XI - if at the cost of not playing 6 bowling options, so be it.  England's selections really don't put their best XI out there.

And Duckett's aspirations at the international level will probably have to wait a bit - his test innings not only traumatized him, but the selectors as well, most likely.  Especially with so many worthy options available to them.

Would result in one of Stokes, Billings or Buttler batting at 7 which would be a bit of a waste and not really worth it.

Would empower the batting unit to be even more aggressive - and you can't argue that the team needed Plunkett/Ball/Willey's bowling more than Billings batting chasing 380 yesterday.

Besides, isn't Willey being wasted if he's only going to bowl 5 overs and bat at 10? Have Stoke and Ali make up those 5, and play that extra batsman.  Especially if you don't really gain much wicket-taking probability by playing that extra seamer.

That is a strong word...yes he has had failures and has still had a gun start to ODI career...2 50's out of 3.

He will comeback and comeback strong

^ Accurate so far.  And good odds on T20 being similar as well, with the spin factor in India's favor.  I care less for the T20 result than the much anticipated much heralded entrance of the Panth.  Let's see how the u-19 and Ranji bully can do his thing against the pommies.  Will be great if he does.
