No point trying a new stop gap . Saha is the stop gap and doing decent job . He will be replaced when a pant or kishan make solid claim , which could be in 6 months time or 2 years time .

Agree.

 

If it takes 2 years to get Pant or Kishen ready,it is failure of the system though...1 year max. Also Pant needs to be ready to keep in the 2019 WC.

 

Big test for Kohli,Dhoni and Kumble as to how they can groom the first real raw talent in years.

Odi team pant / kishan should play now . Don't matter if costs a game or two . Main thing is ready for World Cup plus aids their development for test team 

 

for test team not saying need to be total finished product glove wise but need them closer to it before hitting test team . If kishan in odi team now as keeper may be ready in 12 months for test side glove work wsie

Tare is not a random name ,he has the record of having highest dismissals in the Ranji trophy history 2 years in a row.

 

We are talking about a good wicket keeper batsman.Everyone is aware about Pant ' batting, but there is no clear idea about Pant 's wicket keeping skills.

As Dhoni is still playing in Odi & T20 & Saha is the 1st choice wicket keeper we can discuss about him.

It is another matter we are discussing about Pant & Kishan ,& our selectors will bring Karthik back as wk to join Nehra,Vinay,Harbhajan,Yuvraj & co.

Saw pant in u19 WC, he is a slightly refined version of sanju samson as a keeper .

Just saw the catch taken by Quinton to dismiss Mathews,he jumped in front of the 1st slip to pluck the catch...what a effort.

When we will have a wk who will take such acrobatic catches

We need to invest in Ishant Sharma as the wicket keeper. He once said that he will jump from the cliff for Dhoni. May be he can even dive and jump higher and wider than De Kock, so we won't need first slip?

It will be good if he  does not keep the wk guessing where the next ball will come ..outside leg ,or over his shoulder
