Indian ODIs Openers, time to try out new players?

With the advent of the IPL and T20 cricket you would think every man & his dog would want to be an an aggressive opener.

Its frankly embarrassing that Ind is having to scrape the barrel to find a couple of decent openers. Is the cupboard that empty?

Imo rohit-dhawan have been good for india and are the main reason india only lost one game in the last 2 odi icc tournaments. If it isnt broke why fix it? Indias main problem has been lower order batting and the number 4 spot.  Jadhav, pandya and yuvi have done well to fix some of those issues for now.

The ball won't move like it did at the Lords Test match. I'm pretty sure the ICC is in charge of pitches, not the ECB, at least for ICC tournaments.

Dhawan averages 74 @ a 98 strike rate in England, including the last CT and our ODI series there.  The CT had pretty tough pitches last time , but Dhawan shined.

He just needs some match practice to get back into form and we are good.

Dhawan also averaged 57.4 at 100.3 last year in ODIs. I'm really not sure why we are considering messing with our opening combination. How much better an opener can one find than Dhawan?

"Whatever areas or concerns we have, we'll address them," Kohli said of the openers. "First we didn't have an opening problem, it was an issue with the middle order. Now the middle order has been sorted. We have very good openers with us. It's not a case where we have to find openers. You have to give chances for people to come back into form.

"I think if we back our openers and give them confidence, it's all about one or two innings in international cricket. Once you get the flow, everything clicks. The Champions Trophy is where we saw Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan as an opening-pair revelation. We have played only at 70-75% potential as a batting unit. If we play at 100% I don't know how many runs we can score.

Here's Mayank Agarwal's stats for you all to consider:

He is a very good batsmen,  I believe he can play test as well, selectors need to show some balls
