The thing about this rivalry is that both sides play each other with tonnes of arrogance and dislike (which has become the norm in today's sporting world) and so there's always going to be ridiculous things said about each other. Some of the comments in this thread clearly show that aspect of this rivalry and that is not surprising because the Aussies are probably the most hated opponent for most of us if not the Poms. Thanks to IPL and other reasons, I don't think the hatred between Indian and Australian players is close to what it was 10-15 years ago.

very true.  IPL has reduced the animosity, and also the home advantage to some extent.  A lot of aussies play a lot of cricket in India, and it makes things a lot easier for them.  We should still comfortably win the series, but I want to see total domination.

Pappu can play purely as a batsman tbh....his batting is impressive and aggressive, the impetus we need opening.

They play on T20 pitches in the IPL.....a Raging turner in a 5 day game is going to be a different beast al together.

 

Smith and Warner might do well in flashes and Renshaw is the wildcard but don't see them last a long time on these pitches.

 

Here is the script of the test matches,take it to the bank.

 

India bat first-

Hazelwood will cause some problems...an early loss of wickets then the middle order will put mammoth partnerships to take India to a 400+ score...Starc will start reversing and the lower order will fold.

 

Aus will have a blazing start thanks to Warner and have a good partnership with Smith...then the Spin twins will destroy them for a partly score.

 

India 2nd innings-will rub salt into the wounds where even Pujara will score at a 80+ S/R...India declare.

 

Aus-will fold like a pack of cards.

 

Aus Bat First

Warner will fall early....Smith with Renshaw/Khwaja will steady ship...Aus get to a total in the vicinity of 300.

 

India will start off and Kohlli with the target in his head will knock milestones along the way...lower-order will finish the job...India get a substantial lead.

 

Warner will start off T-20 style trying to avoid deficit...Umesh Shami will get reverse swing get the break throughs and the spinners will finish the job.

 

Apply it to all 4 tests in the related scenario.

 

This is pure cricket acumen prediction....so bet your bottom $ on this

Australia will have no chance in India. Ashwin and Jadeja will toy with their batting lineup. I see a 4-0 whitewash. They will be lucky to even a draw a test.

One thing the aussies have is grit and CONSISTENCY. You see it in their batting bowling and fielding and preparation which they take very seriously. India needs to mimic this and not take any team for granted. I think playing BDesh before Aussies lulled them into a false sense of supremacy. Its not enough to be in their faces like Virat is doing.

Well hang on for a second. Australia were pummeled only recently 4-0 in India. Australia are pushovers most times in the subcontinent.

 

I just knew that the preparations that they had made and the turnaround since the SA beating, that they would deliver a stronger performance. This coupled with arrogant Indian selectors that didnt blood players in meaningless dead rubber tests is what may cost India this series.

 

Once India secured the series against England they should have given other players an opportunity to prove their mettle. Similarly against Banga they could have rested one or two players as well.

 

The school girl mentality of some Indian supporters over the IPL is laughable. IPL is garbage. All that matters in cricket is Test cricket in terms of measuring the power of a cricketing nation. With that said India while they will remain number 1, have yet to prove their ability outside the subcontinent.
