Extremely poor by bhajji when you have two hitters, but I won't call it selfish move like you mentioned It is just lack of judgement and understanding of the game and lack of trust on young players like Pant. 

 

This is the downside of zonal games and making captain to such players. Should have made Gambhir the captain who knows all the players better.

As I wrote, guy is a clueless captain and trusts more in his ability than others. Don't think it is selfish. Very harsh word to use for any player.

Don't be naive.... there was Yuvraj Singh, a big hitter,  waiting in the wings and everyone knows about Pant these days.   He has played for India even.

Cluless captain who can't understand or fathom that others can hit better. I know he probably doesn't trust Yuvraj much as Yuvi has been inconsistent but he surely doesn't trust Pant and hence went himself.

You are being naive by not reading what I wrote. I clearly said it is stupid of him to come. Selfish means I am blaming him for putting himself ahead of team, which i doubt is his motive.
